- Wedding: October 2017
My FI and I are getting married in October (less than 6 months, squeee!!) in a barn. When we booked our venue last year, in the contract it stated that pets are allowed at the venue for the ceremony only, and at the owner’s discretion. We brought it up when we booked, and the Venue Manager (the owners live in Georgia during the winter, so their manager was there to book appointments) said it should be fine, as they train hunting dogs, but to bring it up in our venue coordinator meeting closer to the date. Well, we had that meeting, and she indicated that their policy had changed! She said in the few weddings where dogs had been there, her dogs (kept in an outdoor dog run) barked constantly through the entire ceremony, and so she decided no more dogs.
We were sad, because we were planning on having our dog be our ring bearer. We were not worried about his performance at all, he is a hunting dog, so he is well behaved, doesnt bark, and loves people.
Now here comes our dilemma. My FI really wants to have a ring bearer, and I have already designed and had made a special ring box to be carried down the asile by our ring bearer. So we looked through our relatives, and we are thinking of asking FI’s sister and her husband if their son (our nephew) would be our ring bearer.
However, I worry if they will be insulted, thinking their son will be an afterthought, or second choice because we are so close to the wedding. Neither FI’s sister or her husband are involved in the wedding at all.
