hunting_bride :  I say go ahead and ask! It’s still 6 months away, it’s not like your 2 weeks out. No need to explain yourself, just ask.

I think it’s completely fine. Honestly, a ring bearer or flower girl doesn’t need to be asked a year in advance.

No it is not rude, don’t worry. It’s not like they could even take it as him being “second fave kid”, even if they would be the kind of people who misunderstand everything and gets offended all the time, as the first choice was a dog.

hunting_bride :  I had my 3 nieces as my bridesmaids and didn’t ask them until a lot less than 6 months before the wedding because thats a long time for an excited child to wait. As long as they don’t know about the dog idea just tell them you were waiting til closer to the wedding because of his age and how long he would have had to wait if you’d asked earlier
