I think that song would be fine! To me a recessional is suppost to be fun and an expression of who you are. we walked out to "Slide" by the Goo Goo Dolls... talk about non traditional. I say go for it!
Our recessional was the piano version of Ozzy Osbourne's Crazy Train. My little cousin knew how to play it and we thought it set a fun mood for the reception. Who cares if your DJ doesnt like it, I say go for the instrumental version :)
Right now, we're planning to use Natalie Cole's "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)", BUT I've recently fallen in love with Sugarland's "Stuck on You," so we may change our minds. Either way, most of our music is non-traditional and that's becoming more and more common. Do what you want and have fun with it!
Do whatever you want! We walked out to "All Dressed Up In Love" by Jennifer Hudsen. It's your decision!
I say do whatever your want. My FI wants to play "Funky Cold Medina" as our first song... I said no then I said that would be kinda cool!
If you want to use it, go ahead! It's a fun way to get everything going!
We are using "Today was a Fairytale" by Taylor Swift. = )
Go with whatever makes you happy. My husband and I walked out to "I'll Cover You" from RENT. Our first choice was "To the End" by My Chemical Romance, but we had complaints. I still regret not just going with it. Never let someone talk you out of what you really want when it comes to your wedding.
Thanks everyone. I do really want to use it because I think the song has a good message, and my mom is a huge Bob Marley fan so it will be a nice surprise for her. Thanks for the reassurance!
I think you're idea is great!!! Do it!! Your DJ should have the professional tact to know when to shut it, and especially when it's about something that isn't even a bad idea!!
Ouch! Have you thought about getting a different DJ? Seriously, you should do what you think is right for you and your FI. I wouldn't let anyone tell you what was weird or not. Even if it is weird (in some people's opinions) it will at least be memorable and not blend with the 50+ other weddings they go to in their life!! Silly DJ... he doesn't know what he's talking about.
Wedding is about you and your love,, If that song sums it up and makes you feel good go for it! I am using yellow by coldplay to walk back down the isle !
I think the DJ was out of line a little. You do what you want. We are actually thinking of when our officiant pronounces us husband and wife and thekiss, that we'll have the chorus to "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night playing. Funny and cute!

I was thinking of playing "one love" by Bob Marley, for our recessional. Then I talked to my DJ about it and he said something like, "well you wouldn't want the actual song", and I was like ohhh.... Then I'm thinking, maybe that is too weird. What do you think? My friend was going to play the guitar and sing it, or play the guitar along with the instrumental version. Now I'm not sure what to do. I like non-traditional, but now I'm second guessing.
