I wanted to get your thoughts on if a September 6th wedding shower is too close for my Oct. 24th wedding? My aunt is hosting the shower and originally I had hoped it would be in early to mid August so that all these special events are somewhat spaced out. My aunt told my MOH that she feels more people would come in Sept. because August would be a busy travel month, also it could be hot/humid and she hoped to have it outside. I guess I’m just looking for some peace of mind that this is okay. I know I can’t really change anything unless my MOH and BM’s decide to do it at a restaurant or hall. What do you girls think? How much time do you have between your shower and your actual wedding?

It’s not too close. I’m planning a shower for my MOH (I’m also her MOH) and her wedding day is May 10th and the shower is this Sunday (April 13).

I think if you’re happy with it then go for it. My circle of friends have about 8 weddings this year, so we’ve all been trying our best to work together as not to interfere or have conflicting dates! this has meant that we had back to back showersin April two weekends in a row, one for a May wedding, other for a July- but it turned out to be the most convenient for us all. I think as long as you dont’ book yourself up too much the last few weekends before the wedding , you should be ok. Remember to give yourself some time for any last minute consults with vendors, and of course time to relax and prepare for your big day!

my shower was two weeks before my wedding… and my bachelorette was the week after!
so I think it’s fine – just make sure you’re relatively on the ball in terms of taking care of those last minute wedding details!

Thanks girls, very helpful! I feel much better about it, I just wasn’t sure. Probably because the showers I have been to lately have been over two months apart from the wedding. I didn’t know if that was the appropriate time. 🙂

Yes, totally think that’s plenty of time in between. I actually like going to showers that are closer to the wedding date, it’s much more exciting.
Kind of a buzz kill if you’re going to shower that’s so far from the actual wedding.
