We’re having both our ceremony and reception at an old hotel in Berkeley California. We started planning a bit late, so we had to settle for a Sunday date.
A large portion of the wedding will be older relatives (think 50+), There will be some younger people, but we both went to school on the east coast so a lot of our younger friends won’t make it to the wedding…
Our rough schedule at the moment is as follows:
3:30 – 4:30 Ceremony
4:30 – 5:30 Cocktail Hour
6:00 – 7:30 Dinner
7:30 – 9:30 Dancing
Is 9:30 too early to end?
If you were a guest to a Sunday evening wedding… when would you like to get out of there?

@badzipper: I think it’s OK. I’m getting married the following Sunday and we will finish up at 11, but Monday is a holiday.

I think a six hour commitment is perfect for guests. We were 6-midnight and we had a fair amount of guests leave earlier. I think yours is good!

i think that sounds great!

We did a Sunday wedding, too, with a similar schedule. Our ceremony started at 4pm, and everything fizzled out around 9:30. It was perfect.

I think it’s fine.
Honestly, given that it is a sunday night, many guests may leave as soon as the dancing starts. Sunday weddings tend to be less drinking/partying, which typically equals less dancing.
