How many people would stay over anyway? many people stay over now and days because so many people live far away or dont want to drink and drive. You will know your guest list best.  And, also, is it 1.5 hours away from the ceremony? or from your home town?

Our venue was one hour from our home, so some of our guests who lived further away were driving 1.5-2.5 hours. We had the ceremony and reception at the same place which made it simple. We blocked off rooms in a local hotel in case anyone wanted to stay the night and booked a local taxi service to shuttle people from the hotel. It worked out really well and a lot of our guests complimented our unique venue since it was off the beaten path and not one they’d attended 10 weddings at before. If it’s your dream venue, go for it!

We are about 1 hour from “home” but most people are OTT anyway, so to us it doesnt make a difference. I went to a few weddings this summer that were only 20 minutes from home and many people stayed at the hotel anyway, but then again free transportation was provided for those staying at the hotel.
