I don't think it is to fast at all, but I do think you should practice before your wedding, just because neither of you are dancers. My FI and I are not dancers either, but we will be practicing. We just picked our song. It made us both cry.
This I Promise You - Ronan Keating - First Dance - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-2Qc_tSNNM&feature=related
Here's the video that I found awhile back which made me a little nervous: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc2SSuxPrKg. It just seems like they are rushing the entire time. I guess that if we're not doing any sort of special dance, that it won't seem so fast/rushed.
It looks like they are rushing themselves. My guess is that they took lessons and are just counting the basic steps. They look really nervous and like they are trying to hard. I think that if you and your FI want to use it as your first dance, you would be fine. In my opinion, this song was meant to be danced to slower than the video you found. We are going to be using it as one of our last three songs of the night.
@noritake22: Thank you! I think you're right - we should be fine. I love how short it is. For us non-dancers, it means less time for us to trip and fall over eachother :) :)
@torybrian: YAY!! This is the song I'm walking down the aisle to - our friend will be playing an instrumental version on the acoustic guitar!!! It is SUCH a beautiful song - I cry every time I listen to it!!! I dont think its too fast at all!
This is a great wedding song - I'm a pianist and I've played it for several weddings as pre-ceremony music or what-have-you. I don't think it's too fast for a first dance song. My FH and I are with you and yours on the dancing thing - I'm looking into taking a dance lesson before the big day so we look a lot better! I have several friends who have done this - just one half-hour or so dance lesson with a professional so you can actually learn an "old-fashioned" two-step or whatever - much better than turning and hugging, haha!
Not too fast at all!! This was the song my mom walked down the aisle to and my cousins' first dance song.. also important to my fam :) I think it's kind of a 1-2-3 1-2-3 waltz if you dance to it "properly," but I can't think of a better choice for a hug and sway first dance.

This is a really meaningful song to me, so I really want it to work, but I'm worried it's pace is too fast. Neither my FI or I are dancers, and I don't want us to be tripping over eachothers feet :) Please give me your honest opinions... thanks!
