I kinda like it. It does look fun and I can only imagine how great the pictures would be with that on.
OMG I Love it! I've never seen a veil like that, and I think if your dress is simple it your could totally rock it. I vote yes!
PS I would wear it for the ceremony... think of the pictures!
That is fun! Not my style, but I'd get a kick out seeing someone in real life wear it. What does your dress look like. You said it's plain but I can't picture plain with that veil (not that it won't work, I just can't picture it! haha). How plain is plain? :D
That's nuts! I think that would be a hoot to wear, although perhaps pretty hard for the reception. Send us pics when you get it all figured out!
With a plain gown and simple jewels that would be awesome!! Very airy and whimsical. Would make for some great pics.
This is my dress (with a plain veil!)...it will actually look actually even more plain really--this sample was ivory with gold accents, and mine will be white with white, so the little accents on the front won't show up much.
I'm thinking of getting the crazy veil at least for pics, even if I don't wear it for much of the wedding! hehe
I think Esj4y8 has that dress as well, maybe she might have a good opinion
The veil isn't really my kinda thing, but it would be fun in pictures, maybe with a little breeze blowing it around or dancing at the reception. I don't know about for the ceremony- but the nice thing is it is your day, and you can make it your own!!
I was a little worried about my dress being too plain also, (a tea length with ribbons around the bottom from David's Bridal) so I'm making little fluffy tulle flowers (like in an Oscar de la Renta from a couple of years ago that I fell in love with) and will sew them onto the dress in a row between the ribbons to spice it up a little. Probably wouldn't work for your dress, but maybe a bigger flower on the top or waist or something like that?
oooh... how fun! i think it would look great wit the simple, clean lines of your dress. go for it!
Thanks for the opinions! Since it wasn't like 90% of you thinking it was awful like I was afraid might happen, I think I'm going to order it and at least see if it looks ok or not in person. For $20, how can I go wrong? :)
@lemondrop - that sounds really pretty...going to think about something like that
Have you seen the back of my dress?! You'll only get love and support from me for something so fun!
I love it! And I agree, at the price, it's worth it even just for pictures! Your dress is beautiful, by the way.
My best friend wore an over the top cape to her wedding a few years back... she thought it was gorgeous & fun and now looking back she says it was the worst decision she made. She cringes at her wedding photos... "Why didn't someone stop me from wearing that" is her common complaint. lol
Just make sure you really, really love it!
@doctorgirl - yep, your amazing dress is one of the pics that started me on this crazy "my dress is too boring" quest in the first place! :)
but @recessionista, I completely agree with this also. If I do wear it, I'll probably only do so for part of the day, so there are pics with both it and a more normal veil, to avoid that possibility down the road!
I must add, according to the pics on the website, it doesn't look nearly so wild from the front. Business in the front, party in the back, hehehe.
Greta- I'm flattered! That's exactly what I'm doing... ceremony and some pictures, then bye bye crazy train, hello more traditional dress. It's the best of both worlds!
Can't wait to see photos. I think it's fab!
I think it's hilarious, if you're a fun kind of girl I say go for it it comes off as windblown and tousled
what if you change into once the party factor kicks in all the booze is flowing and people are hitting the dancefloor, maybe keep it formal and simple in the beginning then let loose on the dance floor I think it's wild!
makes you want to smile and think aw, this bride is fun and having the time of her life
do what your heart tells you
Hi Greta, I think we have the same dress (Vernice?) or at least I have a very similar Maggie. Though I do love it I have also worried it's too plain! I think a wild vail is a great way to go. Personally I am doing a rather bold headpiece and fun jewelry. In regular life I usually wear simple clothes with statement accessories, so it worked well for me.
$20? Do it.
@crash - Mine is actually Katelynn (with the halter straps cut off), but it's really similar!
Well, I'm pretty sure I'm going to try ordering it...the worst that can happen is that I'll get a good $20 worth of a laugh when it gets here. :) I'll post real life pics then!
Omg that is so fun looking. I would totally wear it for at least part of the night. You've gotta have some pictures in that! I would just be afraid it would get annoying or get in the way if I wore it all night...
Rock it! I'm doing something similiar and had the same qualms at first (plain dress, feather fasciantor things in hair). Who makes the veil?
Personally I think it's a little too nutty for ME but i'm a boring kind of lady. I'm trying to avoid "trends"
What about a fountain or waterfall veil? those are "couturE" and different. I thought they were called bubble veils and was only able to find the $550 one I loved, so I caved and bought a regular one. Boo i wanted a semi-fun one. It's not as crazy as yours, but it's an option if you want a more, er, wearable? veil? It looks difficult to move in, and it may mess up your hair!
I think you put it perfectly! Super fun and fabulous! Totally rock it!
My only suggestion would be to maybe take it off at the reception. You might get caught on a few things!
I LOVE that veil - Enjoy wearing it!
I saw it in a mag almost 2 years ago and cut it out and put it in my idea book. My 'Lily' veil evolved from that photo.
I love edgy veils. I have a couple "out there" ones www.artisticveil.com & fascinators on www.weddingwire.com, Dress & Attire, Tampa, FL area
personally, its not what i would choose...but if it makes you happy, its your day!!
have you ever thought about doing a veil with a bottom lace hem and/or and lace hem around your face? you can find plenty of cheaper veils with detail to them to spice up your gown.
the best thing to do is try some different ones on and see them in person!
I love this design! I tried on a similar one at the end of last year by Suzanne Ermann, who also makes dresses with coil accents and small hoops on the bottom. Very "fashion forward". She also makes a beautiful full length veil - might have been chapel or longer - and the coils start a little bit lower on your back, I think. I love the coils and think it is a great accent! But, I doubt this veil is "cheap", just by virtue of being french. If you found someone else who is making the veil for a great price, check out Suzanne Ermann's website for the variations on the coil design, and you can give them more direction on what you like. If you don't see the veils, then it's from last year's collection.
I'll make you feel better! Here's my crazy veil (but i'm making mine, cause i'm not spending that much on a veil i can make for $10!)
I think your veil is cute though. Not my style, for me it's actually a bit plain, lol. Of course I'm having feathers and craziness.

So, I've been having second thoughts about my dress because although it's a beautiful dress, it's maybe not as "fun" as I might have wanted in a perfect world. It's a strapless, a-line Maggie Sottero, and is pretty and elegant but kind of plain. This works because we're having an outdoor wedding, but I'm a little sad, I guess, about not having some crazy huge couture confection of a dress! (which would totally not fit with my venue OR my budget, but ya know...)
So I was thinking about what I could do to up the fun factor, and I came across this veil, and laughed out loud. I think it's completely fabulous, but crazy. It's definitely not like, wow, that is elegant and lovely, but it's...fun! So I'm thinking about maybe wearing a more subdued, elegant one for the ceremony and trying this for the reception?
I can't decide whether it's fun and cute, or just over the top and too much and will make me look silly. Thoughts?
(also, it's cheap, so that's not an issue)
