You're going to get tons of sand stuck in those layers :)
However, I don't ever think a bride is over dressed. That's the whole point.
I think it looks great on you! Although I am biased because I really do like this dress and want it myself.
But I think it works because it is still "simple" enough, where it is a soft light colour and fabric and is not beaded at all. I think it will work because it will flow in the wind! Keep it!
Will the reception be indoors? If it's just for a little while for the ceremony outdoors, it's fine. and you're the bride! you can wear whatever you want! But yea, I'm just thinking about the sand that'll be stuck in those layers. This is a very pretty dress though and looks amazing on you!
I think you look great in it, but it doesn't look like it belongs at a beach wedding IMO. Something simpler and less sand catching might be better, but I agree that the bride is never overdressed, so wear whatever makes you feel "bridal!"
@mwitter80: That's true and that's what i am worried about.
@MissHighHeel: Thanks. I am debating because i do think it's a pretty dress, what i am worried about is it being too thick/heavy for the beach and the hot weather. But my ceremony would be at 5:30pm so during that time it might not be as hot because it's close to sunset.
@CrispyRN: Thanks so much. The reception will be indoor but i would be changing to a simpler dress. It's this dress below:

yea i am worried about the sand getting stuck in my dress too...but i guess if the sand is dried then it should be hard to shake it out of the dress afterward. I am more worried about the thickness of the dress. It's a pretty dress and i am not sure if i wanna let it go. :(
@JerseyGirlLaur: Thank you so much. I do feel more bridal in this dress than the thinner/simpler dress though. The thinner dress makes me feel like i am wearing a nice dress but it doesn't make me feel like i am wearing a Wedding Gown. i am confused...
I think it will look great - you look stunning in it! Organza is very light and will be perfect!
I've tried on the dress and I feel like it's a bit heavy and you would probably get really hot in it! But if you love it, it won't look to fancy or anything. I would be more concerned about comfort.
I think it's your wedding, and you get to wear whatever you want, but am worried about you just being too hot. The look is definitely lovely though!
Personally, I don't think the dress is too much. If it makes your feel like a super model bride, I would definitely wear it. I would suggest a reception dress though cause it may be too hot to wear the rest of the night.
I have seen photos of this dress in a beach wedding and it fit perfectly in to the wedding!
Hi,I think the lighter and "flowy" or high-low dress will be more perfect for beach wedding.

@shushu1208: Thanks. True, the organza is lighter. I really hope that after i get the dress hemmed it will look smaller on the bottom.
@MademoiselleL: I am worried about being hot and sweaty that's why i am still not sure about what to do.
@SapphireSun: Thanks. I am also worried about being too hot.
@squeak35: I do feel more bridal in this dress than other flowy dresses. I do have another dress to change into for the reception as seen above. So maybe it's ok to wear the gown for an hour or 2 and deal with the heat.
@FutureMrsMoore: Do you remember where you've seen someone with this dress on the beach?
@Eleanor: i do agree...but i don't see any of those flowy dresses that make me feel like a bride, i feel like i am wearing a nice dress when i have them on. I feel more bridal in this gown.
Sadly...i would have to let this dress go and look for something lighter/thinner. This dress is brand new with tags and unaltered. If you or anyone you know are interested in this dress please few free to contact me.
I also purchased the Champagne color sash to go with the dress. It can be purchased with the dress or by itself. It's brand new with tag as well. thanks.
Forgot to mention that this dress is a Size 4 and the style number is VW351011. I am also including the Gown Preservation kit from David's Bridal (Retail $ 189.00). The sash and kit can be purchased together or separately with the dress. Everything is ready for shipment immediately. It will be a FINAL sale. Feel free to contact me for more info if you need. Thanks girls!
I think that dress is STUNNING and would be fine for a beach wedding. Why would you ever change into that other dress? I would stay in the organza dress for the whole time if I were you! You said that it makes you feel like a bride- well, honey, that's what you're supposed to feel like on your wedding day!
I'd probably wear your reception dress to the ceremony outside and the ceremony dress to the reception inside. So you get both dresses without getting sand all up in those layers.
I actually think the Vera Wang would be nice for your reception. It's pretty and unique, and you will be taking lots of pics and mingling, dancing, socializing. I think it will pop in pics and really make you stand out as the bride.
I think you should wear the simpler dress for your beach wedding. It's light, pretty and chic.
I am doing a beach wedding too and bought a simple dress that will be great w/ sandals and in the sand/wind/water. I am having an indoor reception and will be wearing something a little more formal. Both dresses are beautiful and I can't wait!!!
Whatever you choose to do, it will work for you! Good luck with your decision!!!
I wore it for my beach wedding!! I didn't have any issues with the sand getting stuck in the dress at all. Maybe if you were kicking sand and running into it, or if people were throwing sand at you? But in a normal walking motion.. I didn't have any problems at all. The way it blew in the breeze was really pretty too.
Don't ditch the dress! It looks amazing on you!!!

@Miss Root: i agree with you, the dress is gorgeous. i want to change to a simpler dress b/c we are having a buffet style reception and i just thought it would be easier to move around with a simpler dress plus i am afraid to have spill on my dress.
@jumpthegun: Thanks. That's a good suuggestion but i would prob love to wear my this dress for the ceremony b/c we will be taking formal photos between then and the reception.
@sre411: Thanks for the idea and congrats on your upcoming wedding.
@LilyTom: i thought about a chiffon dress too but i do feel nothing i seen lately can compare to how i feel for this dress. Thanks for your input.
i think the dress looks beautiful and would be fine on the beach! the organza is light and flowy. it doesn't look like it has any applique on the skirt that would get caugtht in the sand. don't change it. you look lovely.
@beeliever: thank you for the nice comment. I am actually keeping the dress, especially after seeing mrsrowe with the dress on the beach. I am not worrying about it as much. :)
My fiance just said "It's her special day, she can wear whatever she wants."
I love that comment. It IS your day. You can get away with wearing anything! If you go to davidsbridal on Facebook, there are a lot of brides that post their pictures, and a couple of them is this dress with a beach wedding setting, check it out!
I think you should KEEP IT.. That' dress reminds me of the ways at the beach it's perfect and fits you well.
I dunno if someone already said this but could you wear the reception dress to the wedding and put on the Vera Wang for the reception?
I am thinking of wearing this dress to my Jamaican wedding in 2012!! I love it...I've seen some pictures of girls in the dress and it is very puffy and big but I have also seen pictures of the dress on girls and it wasn't poofy. I would wear mine without a lot of poof but each is its own. I can't wait to go try it on!

Hi girls!
I bought this White by Vera Wang Organza dress for my wedding. However, now that we are going to have our wedding on the beach instead of having it indoor, i am not sure if this dress would be too much for the beach. Especially, we are going to be having a destination wedding in Thailand. Have any of you girls wore this dress for your beach wedding or plan to wear it to your beach wedding? Would you suggest that i should go for it or should i exchange for a simpler/thinner gown? Any opinion would be appreciated.
Below are pics of myself in the dress if that help. Thanks girls!
