I’ve been engaged for 7 months now so for so long it felt like I had all the time in the world and that I didn’t really have to do any serious planning. Now that we’ve hit the 1.5 year mark I’m like “wait…maybe I should actually start taking this seriously!” I went through a phase where it felt like time was going so sloooow, but then I got busy and now I don’t know where last 7 months have gone!

I know this is going to sound strange but I felt like 2012 went by so qucikly and these 3 weeks of 2013 have just DRAGGED! Hopefully this isnt how the entire year will go (i hate to wish away time, but I cant wait for it to be 2014!)

I definitely feel like it’s dragging!! I’ve been engaged since May so we’re having a just over 2 year engagement. We have our venue and caterer. I don’t want to start dress shopping until spring because I’m afraid there’ll be new collections that come out and I see so many ladies here with dress regret!

I’ve finally started to settle on colors, just asked two of my girls to be my bridesmaids (I’ll be asking the third at Easter), and I have a better vision for centerpieces and decor. I tried to wait on that because I was afraid I’d change my mind because I have had SO much time to think about it.

What’s killing me most right now is I want to start booking other vendors like the photographer and DJ. But with this much time, I’m afraid I’ll end up finding something “better”. At the same time, we’re so far out that I’m sure those vendors aren’t booked on my day, but I don’t know when they will be. That’s the most frustrating part right now! And I’m also wondering about cost increases. I half want to book those vendors now, hoping to get 2013 rates instead of booking later in the year when they could’ve uped the rates for 2014.

What are you ladies doing in regards to things like this?

@PaisleyMedic just like all things- once you’ve picked a venue or vendor and they are ‘the one’, STOP LOOKING! Focus your energies on the next thing on the list. Don’t stress yourself out by wondering if you can find a better deal. Definitely shop around before making a decision though!

We have booked a lot, just because June is one of the most popular wedding months. May of 2014 dates were already all booked for most of the vendors we talked to.

ya one of my top venues won’t book for more than a year in advance but it seems you have to go lightning fast to get anything you want

The time it going by fast for me! Originally we were going to be married in 2015, but recently changed it to 2014. So I went from having all the time in the world (it seemed) to 16 months! But once we get the things that need to be booked a year in advanced (photography, venue, etc) i’m sure it will slow down. But i’m also in school from now until the wedding, so it’s keeping me busy!

We got engaged last April and I just realized its already been a YEAR. It seriously flew by. The winter was boring so there were times it felt like the wedding date would never come. But I only have another year and a few months so I feel like if the past year flew by, this one will too since we will be much busier with planning!

SLOW! I’m so excited to plan, but the venue we booked said in not so many words, ‘we’ll call you when it’s time to start planning’ 😛 I’m using the time to DIY some things though. I have a feeling that I’ll look back and say ‘where has the time gone’ in a couple months here.

It was going slowly, now it feels like it’s flying!  When we booked our venue a couple of months ago, they ALREADY had a June 2014 wedding scheduled!  Fortunately, our date was free.  I’ve already had photographers tell me they’re booked for my date, so I’m starting to get worried.  Fortunately, our venue booking is for ceremony, reception and cake, so those are big ones out of the way.  If we can just decide on a photographer, things will slow down again.
