I am contemplating using one to keep the 900 layers of tulle off my legs and to add volume to my skirt. Every time I search hoop skirt threads on the bee I always see at least one person saying something along the lines of, “remember you have to get in and out of a car” or “don’t forget you have to dance in the hoop skirt.” Is it really that big of a deal with today’s flexible hoops? Or am I just not understanding?

I’ll be wearing a hoop: we sewed one in to my dress and it’s amazing at keeping those 10,000-layers of tulle as you descibe, from getting between my legs as I walk.
I wonder about those posters who caution about hoops: I wonder if they’ve actually worn a reasonably-sized hoop skirt for a day. It’s not that bad!

It’s not a big deal, I wore on at my first wedding. You just have to make sure you pull that top hoop that sits level with your buttom up when you sit, or your skirt will fly up. I had no problems if I recall.

I have worn hoop skirts before, they are really not that big of a deal to do things in or get out of the car in. I would just practice sitting and moving around in your hoop before the day, it will make you more comfortable.

I recently purchased a 5 ring flexible hoop skirt (not here yet) based on the recommendations of other bees. I was told that the less rings you have the more flexible the skirt and the lower the “poof” comes up your body making it a bit easier to move about.

I think as long as you practice, you should be fine! I know they’re not the easiest things to be graceful in, but if you get comfortable wearing a hoop, I’m sure it’ll be perfect for your wedding. Remember, women used to wear them every day! If they did it, so can you! 🙂

Your responses are reassuring. I think I am going to order one once I did what one to go for.
@Treejewel19: Will you fill me in on how you like it when it comes in?
