Is wearing a white dress [with a pattern] taboo?

I’d have no issue with someone wearing that dress on my wedding day, but everyone has their own ideas on “how much white” is or is not fine. The cut is obviously that of a summer dress, so for the life of me I cannot see why it would be unacceptable.

It amazes me that for one day…just one day, people cannot find an outfit that perhaps doesnt include the colour white or makes them question whether it is appropriate.

So many colours, it’s not that hard.

Le Sigh.

marryinmaine :   misshoppity :  both of these dresses are fine in my opinion to wear.  they are not white dresses.  but i do think they are very casual to wear.  they are something i would wear to brunch with friends of throw a cardigan over and wear to work.

i would not wear these dresses to a wedding:

I don’t see anything wrong with EITHER dress.  Wear bright accessories and you’ll be fine.

I think that dress is totally fine. It wouldn’t bother me and I’m always very careful about not wearing white. I went to a wedding this past weekend where the groom’s step mother wore a white lace cocktail dress, crystal belt (looked like it belonged on a wedding dress) and white ballet flats. That is too much.

It’s fine imo.

Judging by the mixed responses, I would just avoid wearing it. You might not offend the bride, but maybe another family member might bring it up. It’s just ONE day for you, but the bride’s big day. Just DON’T wear white.
