Or a suit? I definitely want the future hubby to buy, but I don’t know what is it that makes a GOOD tux. They all look the same to me. I know I don’t want tails, or a shawl collar…but that is it. What makes a good tux, and did you buy or rent?

Mine is renting the tux, we just don’t think he’ll need one very often to justify it. He already has suits.

A really good suit or tux, tailored to the body is expensive. You can buy much cheaper suits and tuxes off the rack and have them tailored and have them look good, but not excellent as if its custom made.
A really good suit is a great investment. I can tell immediately the difference between a custom suit and a rack suit.
However, unless you think he will have reason to wear a tux many times a year, that is not something most poeople should spend money on. I would rent a tux and splurge on a custom made suit.

My FH bought a black CK suit at burlington coat factory for $100, but when we bought the same suits for the GMs they had gone up to $130, they were still black and formal and we put them with black ties and they looked AMAZING. It was a good thing I went with them or they all would have bought too big of a suit because of the narrow cut.

We bought one, with the discount from Men’s Warehouse (you get a free tux rental or 350 or 450 towards a suit or tux if 5 guys rent a tux) a new, nice tux with alterations was only 125 or so. We just paid for it this afternoon and alterations will be done Monday. We have the wedding and a formal within the next 6 months and him not changing sizes too much for a long while (even when he looses the weight he plans it will be in the waist and not in the shoulder or chest since he’s been down to that weight before and little changes besides those), it all just made sense.
That and if he rented the tux it wouldn’t look as good because he’s fairly short limbed and tuxes are less so.

FI bought his suit from Men’s Wearhouse. It’s a charcoal gray Kenneth Cole that he can wear to work after our wedding. He looks so handsome!

FI bought his tux because none of the rentals fit properly. They all made him look like he was wearing someone else’s clothes. We actually found a reat deal at a small boutique men’s store so buying turned out to be cheaper than renting.

We rented a tux at Mens Warehouse. I tried to convince FI whoa, correction, DH (first time typing that!) to buy a tux since it was just a little more and that way he’d have it to wear again. His arguement was 1, when in the world would he need a tux again, 2, would it even fit anymore by that time and 3, what about the off chance that its no longer ‘in style’. I tired to fight that last one by saying get a CLASSIC one! but points 1 and 2 eventually won.

FI is renting a tux. It’s a slate grey tux so it’s not suuuper formal, yet still sharp.
It’s probably the same cost as buying a suit, but I didn’t want to do the legwork to find one to buy. (and also making sure the groomsmen all over the country would still be able to get the same suit.)

He’s renting his, but because his GMs are also renting from the store, his rental is free. 🙂

FI and his GM are all renting tuxes.

My FH and ALL the Male Wedding party is renting their black tuxes. We are getting ours from seno formal. We are going with their cheapest tux which start out at $79 The tux rental comes with everything: jacket, pants, shirt, vest, tie, pocket square, cufflinks, shoes, and socks. I was told all I had to provide was the men and underware! LMAO! I guess I asked to many questions and the sales guy was tired of repeating himself. I just wanted to make sure I wrote it all down right to tell the guys in the wedding party!
They have great deals there too. With 6 rentals the groom gets his free. 8 or more rentals and you get 50% off ring bearer tux!

My FI is going to rent a tux. We don’t have a lot of reasons for him to buy one. Nobody we know has or will have a wedding formal enough to wear one to unless he is in the bridal party. So far all of our friends are only dating or single so being in a bridal party isn’t something we have to worry about right now.

He says suit now but who knows. I would LOVE for the guys to wear white with purple ties. Something about a white tux just makes a man look so sharp

All of our guys bought their suits. We got them during a buy 1 get 2 free sale at Jos A Bank, so they were $350 suits for just over $100. Can’t beat that!
