my fi is but we are having the same trouble try google mother son dance songs a list will come up.
My FI did not want to dance w/ his mother...he hates being put on the spot. Instead, I will be dancing w/ my father and he will dance with his mother at the same time. I was thinking that the John Mayer song, "Father and Daughters" would be a good one because it also mentions son and moms too. Some other good ones include:
Norah Jones - "Don't Know Why"
The Beatles - "in My Life"
Gram Parsons - "A song for You" (Don't know what it sounds like, but someone suggested it to me)
Just GOOGLE Mother/Son wedding songs and there are a bunch - and then you can listen to snippets on iTunes or read the lyrics on AtoZlyrics!
Sorry, I am no help. We are not doing the father/daughter or mother/son dance.
FI and his mom are dancing to "You are the sunshine of my life" by Stevie Wonder. FMIL offered not to do the dance because I will not be dancing with my dad (who is deceased) but I insisted that if they wanted to dance, they should. (And I may use that as a moment to slip out to the bathroom because this is one of the things that 10 years after my dad's death still makes me very teary.)
My fiancé is. They are dancing to Run for the Roses by Dan Fogelberg. Definitely not his choice - his mom used to sing the song to him when he was a little kid - but it has sentimental value.
My FI is dancing to "Aint No Mountain High Enough" with his mom. I guess it is a favorite of hers, and they'll have fun with it since it is so upbeat.
we aren't having dancing at our wedding, but my mom and brother danced to carole king, child of mine at my brother's wedding.
FH and FMIL will be dancing im sure - but dunno what they have decided on yet. im not dancing with my father though (hes DOES NOT DANCE) so dunno when we are gonna do the dance.... *sigh*
I'm no help on the suggestion front (FMIL has mobility issues) but have you asked your FMIL if there's a particular song that she likes? Maybe she's already thought of this already or is waiting for you to tell her that she'll be dancing with her son.
