    I'm sitting here on the couch with my pup, pj pants, sweatshirt and a thick blanket.

    It's a balmy 55 degrees in the house.

    Our heat is not on yet because we're cheap a$$es and hold off as long as possible.

    What about you? Is your heat on yet? Do you have kids, does that affect your decision on when you turn on heat? I assume it does!

    For the record the heat is coming on soon, hahhaa, we just need to vacuum all the ducts first.

    Our heat is on, but we're in an apartment so the landlord pays that bill! :D

    In Wisconsin, the coldest place on earth, YES!  But I use a radiator (portable) in only my bedroom and only at night.

    It's not on at our house yet, it keeps a nice temperature.  I've turned it on at work though.  My office was freezing when I got here today!

    I live in Canada and my house is right next to the lake so I must say, it's been on for about a month. ;)

    ETA: And no, I don't have kids, it's just damned cold out, haha...oh good, it's dipping below freezing tonight for the first time.  See ya later, plants!

    We have like a wall heater in our apt living room that quickly takes it 80 (no temp control) it's like one you'd find in a hotel room. so we usually shut that off at night. We have radiant heat in the bedroom so we have turned that on once or twice for a bit. We're both cheap so we pile on the blankets and clothes! I'm wearing fuzzy socks and a zip-up sweater right now!

    Lucky! The perils of home ownership. :P

    @cbee:

    hahah. Seriously. I love in WNY, yes the place that the media claims is covered in snow year round. Not true. Most people I know have their heat on now.

    @Miss Sorbet:

    Go Away! :P

    @SparklyBride2011:

    What's freezing in LA? 65? Hehehe...I tease my friend who lives in LA all the time, she use to live here now her blood has thinned!

    LOL.  I TRIED to hold off on the heat but I couldnt take it anymore and turned it on yesterday.  It was 58 downstairs and 56 upstairs.  I turned the heat on to 60.  We had it at 65 last year, but we're trying to see how long we can survive at 60 this season.  No kids, so we can still suffer and use blankets and stuff.  Once kids are in the picture, then we'll suck it up and pay through our nose for the heat... till then... BbbRrrRRrr!

    We have an apartment condo. We get enough heat radiating through the walls from our neighbours so we never have to turn on our own heat.

    I've been on business trips for 3 of the 4 weeks this month and I've definitely been using the heat in my hotel rooms.

    FI isn't using the heat at home.  He likes it cooler than I do.

    It's been on and off 3-4 times since the beginning of September.  It's on right now.  I think it is going to stay on now.

    I would vote "other" but there is no option. We live in an apartment and they control the heat, which they hadn't turned on until today. It was a pleasant surprise coming home - we've been cold!

    @littlegraykitten: Snowing here, too (although not as much, I'm sure)!  Our heat's been on.  Peanut and I are both wimpy about the cold, so our heat's at 72 AND I'm bundled in a thick sweater with a quilt.

    Its snowing where I am, Erie PA, a miserable 39 WET degrees outside with almost no chance of sunshine until april. Thankfully the apartment above us keeps its own heat and prevents ours from escaping through the roof, 65 degrees on the thermostat (with the addition of two thick pairs of socks, long johns, hoodies and a snuggie) keeps us warm enough.

    @Gerbera: well, I'm about an hour north of LA and it was in the fifty's this morning (yeah I know, still not FREEZING to some, haha) so on went my heater.  Right now its about 69 out side so I've since turned it off.

    I'm actually really excited to have some colder weather for a change.  We literally get two seasons here, hot and cold. Although last year we got a few snowfalls which was odd for our area.

    Our heat has been on for most of the past week or so. FI and I are both huge wimps about being cold so as soon as it dipped below 63°F in the house we turned it on and haven't looked back. We do turn it off/way down during the day though when we're both at work, and turn it back up when we get home in the evenings.

    Ours is on, but it's very low. I knew when I was waking up with a frozen nose every morning, it was time.

    We refuse to turn it up high though. We're cheap-asses.

    It's in the 80s here, too. So nope, not on. We have however turned the air off for a couple of weeks. It's been pretty comfortable in here at night.

    I turned the heat on Tuesday and today.  It's supposed to snow on Saturday.  I thought I was gonna hold off cuz the rate on the propane went up considerably, but my daughter can't handle the cold, I would be fine just bundling up for a few more weeks though.  This winter's heating bill is gonna be CRAZY!

    @Gerbera: Im the same as you lol. Our heat bill is not even that high but since DH cant stand being hot we just wear hoodies and wrap up in blankets! once it gets below 53 we usually turn the heat on for a little while.

    I do the same in the summer time. I turn the air off as soon as he leaves for work and turn it back on about an hour before he gets home! haha :D (unless its burning up that day....)

    We've been using the wood stove to heat the house for about a week straight.  Used it two times before that on random cold days.  Definitely have it burning tonight since it's snowing.... >_<

    I live in Florida. We don't really turn on our heat except for a few weeks a year. Seriously. It doesn't really get to cold here. My husband is from Ohio and unless it's 30 degrees or so, he hates the heater being on.

    Ours is on, but set to 67 when we leave the house, 69 when we're home.  We've got a super-insulated house, so it's not too bad yet.  Just to the high 40s at night right now, some of the nights are warmer.

    It's 40 degrees outside, around 60 inside. So no heat yet. My kitten is getting very cuddly, though haha. I have on slippers, a long sleeve shirt, and a sweatshirt. We're cheap. lol.

    No heat on here we have our back door open because our apartment was too hot... 3rd floor apartment building pays off when its cold. last winter we only turned ours on like 5 times total (and we have kids)

    DH says that he never turns the heat on, and he even opens the windows at night in December! He's aware that he'll have to get used to not being frosty once it gets colder, but for now we don't have our heat on yet. Luckily for me, we're on the second floor of the apartment building, so we get the leftovers from other people's heat too :).

    The heat isn't on because the apartment doesn't really get cold.  It has to be below freezing consistently before I need to turn on the heat.  I've only been cold when I've left the window open a little too wide.  Right now, it's 6C outside and 22 inside.

    They just turned the heat on in our building yesterday and it was MUCH needed.  Luckily, its included in our rent.  While we don't have to pay for it, we are going to live it up!
