@stardustintheeyes:  I would like to go all out for holidays, but we are pretty lazy.  We put some stuff in our yard, some lights on the bushes, but nothing extravagant.

@stardustintheeyes:  We have a house or two like that too. Some are pretty cute, but others are way over the top.

Unfortunately, we haven’t finished fixing up the house on the inside yet…so we really can’t focus on the outside! And TBH, who has time for that? lol It sounds like such a chore. I will decorate inside, with lights that can probably be seen outside from the window…but that’s it.

Our neighborhood is filled with really old people and young people…none of which care or have the time/money to decorate their house. So I don’t feel bad :P.

@stardustintheeyes:  My parents used to go all out for Christmas: ice lights around the whole front of the house and garage doors, lighted wreath, two bushes decorated with lights, North Pole sign decoration with a snowman and Santa (all lit up), one of those projectors where you put in the slides that go around on your house, and some lit up spiral trees. And that’s just the outside. We won’t even go into the inside of the house…

It would take my dad somewhere around 4-6 hours to put all that stuff up, and that was even with leaving the hooks up on the gutter to hang the lights. Our house was always SO festive, but my dad just got too tired of doing it because of his age and ankle issues. My uncle offered to decorate, but my dad’s pride stepped in, and he decided to downsize instead.

He puts out the spiral trees, projector, wreath, and prelit trees, but he won’t get up on the ladder and do lights around the house or garage anymore. I’d say now it only takes him about two hours maybe.

I love seeing houses all decked out for Christmas.  It was a tradition when I was younger to go look at all the houses with their yards all lit up.

I would like to be that house but I don’t have the energy to put all that stuff up only to take it all down a month or so later.  Maybe some day when I have butlers who can do it for me HAHAHAHA

@stardustintheeyes:  I want to be that house!  I am just buying a few new things every year so I can get a good amount of stuff in the yard!

I am that Christmas tree person though!  My tree is rediculous!

@stardustintheeyes:  Lol I hear ya. I decorate the inside of y house like a crazy person, but outside just takes too much time and effort, climbing up ladders, no thanks. We just bought our house in March, and I gave DH a choice: he can either decorate the whole outside with lights or allow me to buy those inflatible lawn decorations.

He was quick to let me spend all the money I wanted on the lawn decorations, lol.

Not a big fan, but we’re moving into my MIL’s house in a few months, and her house is THAT house. Along with the neighbors.

I hate it because FI is to one to climb on the roof (like, uses to ladder to get up there so he can walk around) to hang the lights, it makes me so nervous!

I never ever want that kind of lighting set up on our house, and when we move she’s going to need to find someone else to do it… I can’t lend him out like that if it’s so darn dangerous!

I totally want to be that house. Doesn’t quite work for an apartment, unfortunately!

@stardustintheeyes:  Plus you think I really want to freeze my ass off?  What if I slip and fall and break my neck trying to put those lights on the roof?  No thanks my happy ass will stay inside where its warm, and safe.  I’ll drink my hot cocoa in front of a fire sitting on my bay window and watch all the other neighborhood yahoos risk losing their appendages to frostbite.

We have one where the entire house is completely covered in lights. It reminds me of the house in Christmas vacation. And not only the house, but the yard is covered in lights – they are like laid on the grass covering the entire yard. It is CRAZY. You just see people idling around taking pictures every night. Funny thing is the owner of the house is actually a client of my mother’s. They have to schedule their laundry times during the day otherwise all of the breakers go off in the house if they run the washer while the outside lights are on haha.

There’s another house that put 76 of those blow up things in their yard last year (yes we counted :-P). They’re on the roof and everything. Its really tacky actually lol.

We had three houses off a highway that covered every inch of their house and yard in lights, the gov actually bought the homes so they could be moved because it was apparently too much of a distraction off a main road. Haha
