My male cat is much more affectionate.  I researched it before I got an new cat, and that’s what the internet said is usually the case, though there was no evidence to back it up.

My last cat, a female, just peed on things and ran away from me, lol.  Definitely like my male better.

sweetchiquita12:  I think it depends on the cat. I have a female who is a stalker. Follows us everywhere, tries to sleep on my head, etc. She can never get enough affection. She was a rescue, so maybe she has an attachment disorder or something. Definitely a stage 5 clinger.

sweetchiquita12:  I’ve had cats most of my life and I think the females were more friendly than males. I wish one could figure out temperments while they were still young. Those dud cats can really turn one off. Ugh.

I’m looking at adopting and it’ll definitely be an adult cat that is affectionate.

sweetchiquita12:  Very cute kitties! My experience with female cats has always been horrible! DH has had both males and females and swears that males are so much more affectionate. We’re adopting a kitty soon and it will be a male!

sweetchiquita12:  Oh my goodness, such a cute picture. My male cat is very affectionate with me, and very playful with my guy. My last cat was female though and she was SUPER affectionate. I think it depends on their personalities and how you raise them.

I’ve always found male cats to be more affectionate! I have two adorable boys that love to cuddle and be around me.

Our little boy can be super affectionate, but it’s on his terms.  Half the time when I try to pet him, he rears away like “Don’t touch me!”  But then he’ll come running and purring and get up on our laps whenever he feels like it.  The little girl is basically always affectionate… she wakes me up in the morning meowing at me wanting to be pet, and if you call her she’ll always coming running.

Both of my male cats are ridicously affectionate. One of them takes affectionate to a whole new level. They both follow us around the house and cuddle us. One in particular will insist that I “kiss” him every opportunity he gets. If he can get eye level with me he will poke his face out until I give him a nudge on his head or kiss the tip of his nose. It makes my dogs sooooo jealous.

I had a male that was super affectionate but this new male isn’t so much with me.  We were warned that he was a biter but my hubby wanted him anyway.  He cuddles with my husband and thinks I’m a play toy.

I have a male cat and he is very affectionate towards me. As soon as I wake up he follows me all around the house and even after I feed him he is still rubbing up on my leg. If I sit down to watch tv he always follows me and jumps up and lays in my lap and falls asleep. He loves my DH too but my DH is more his playmate, my DH loves to tease him and my cat loves to play fight with him, it’s so cute to watch. My sister has 2 female cats and they are also affectionate too, so I really do think it depends on the cats personality but I love my male cat and I wouldn’t trade him for the world!

They are both affectionate in their own ways.  My girl cat will climb in my face whenever she feels like it and demand attention whereas my boy cat will just curl up at my feet on the couch.  Usually my girl cat sleeps on the bed almost every night, my boy cat only once in a while.  He’s more outgoing with new people and will get up in their face wanting attention, but my girl cat will let anyone pet her or pick her up.  They just have to come to her.
