I am having a simple wedding and decided from the get-go that I wanted a light flowy chiffon gown, long but ABSOLUTELY no train. And that’s exactly what I got! I think having a long flowy dress with a train is almost a must-have at least during the wedding ceremony. It’s traditional and lovely but I personally didn’t want to be stuck with a long ass train all night since I am planning to PARTAY and a bustle is just not attractive to me.
I decided to get a train-substitute and purchased a GORGEOUS veil that is considered floor length since it just brushes the floor. I am 5’4” and the veil is 6′ so it drags a little bit, rather than “brushes” the floor. The material is chiffon like my dress – so nice! So I put them on together and they clash really well but then I start to feel like my simple dress is just not bridal enough! Am I just a whiner? Any other brides out there feel like your lovely but practical wedding gown is just not giving you that warm fuzzy bride feeling?
I am gonna go ahead and guess it’s the darn magazines and websites with all the big floofy dresses that make us feel this way. I am sure once my hurr is did and I got all my bridal gear on, I will look at myself and say gosh I am a bride! At least I hope so!
A few pics are below..
For the curious; my dress is Oleg Cassini. I think it’s even more beautiful in person. The intricate beading on the straps is heavenly. The chiffon is so light and flowy, it’s pretty much a dream. The veil is from Angela’s Bridal Boutique. Shoes are still to be determined! And the best part – I don’t think I’ll need any alterations! How many brides can say that!?!

Oh I think it looks very bridal…or even better than what I normally think of as bridal. It’s ethereal.

That’s gorgeous, very classy. Really, don’t worry about not looking bridal – you certainly do in that dress! Also, the important thing is that you marry the love of your life, I’m sure you could do that in a potato sack and still feel like a bride!

It’s all beautiful! I love how the veil makes just a tiny train in back of you. And the dress is really lovely, and very bridal. I think the poofy strapless multi-layered wedding gown thing is overdone, and it is nice to see someone who has chosen something so different.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I appreciate it!
I just have to remember the reason I purchased my dress to beging with: I didn’t want anything big and floofy, I wanted exactly this!
I feel great in it and it’s so light and flowy! I can’t wait to complete my look on the big day!

I can’t think of where someone would wear that unless they were a bride, so yes, I think it’s plenty bridal 🙂

I was the same way! I ended up with a Bill Levkoff bridesmaid dress in ivory! Long, flowy, chiffon… my favorite! Looks gorgeous!

Anyone have any suggestions for undergarments for this dress? I need something because the material is so light and even though it’s lined, it’s see-through no matter what I wear.
What type of slip? Maybe something a little poofy? I like the flowy look but would be open to suggestions for anything so please let me know, girls! 🙂
