I’m really trying to find a way to cut rediculous florist prices. While I was grocery shopping today, I noticed that the flower section of the grocer had a sign up that says “special occasions, come and see us”, and I am wondering if they could do my flowers. Is this tacky? Has anyone done this?

I ordered them from Sam’s club and they were gorgeous. MUCH cheaper too!

I’m using a local grocer who always has beautiful flowers for our bouquets. They are an FTD florist although I didn’t know that when I chose them. Go for it!

Its not tacky– nobody will know where you got them from anyways! I was at Raleys last night and was telling FI I was suprised at how great their flowers were. 🙂 Good luck!

I am doing this! (Or the Sam’s CLub route) My friend works at a grocery floral store, and they do beautiful work for lots of different occasions. They are just as professional and expert.

I am! We only have a handful of florists in our town and I met with every single one of them but ultimately decided that Dillons (a kroger store) was our best route. The florist was really helpful in giving ideas and and they were about $300 cheaper than our next best option.

I’m getting my flowers from Gelson’s supermarket. It is so much cheaper and their in-store florist is very knowledgable!

i am thinking of getting my flowers from Whole Foods- their florals are amazing, inexpensive, and the florist there indicated that it would be a simple thing for them to order the flowers I needed!

Sam’s Club DOES do amazing things with flowers for a fraction of what a florist will charge–that reminds me I need to go check it out! (and their cakes are fantastic, too, btw…)

i would say do it if its your cheapest option. i went to many other florists and not getting what i want for the price im willing to pay. for example, one of the florists want to charge me $1.16 for one white mum stem and they are in season in october. way too much to me especially if i can get them for about 44¢ cheaper at raleys. and if youre deciding to diy, some of the grocery store florists are willing to give you advice or help you.

I am!! I am using a local grocer for all my flowers. I am just doing babies breath bouquets and a ton of huge mums for the tables. So far they’ve been great!

Did you price ordering online at all? Thats’ what I’m doing and my flowers are costing 1/4 to 1/3 of what I was quoted.
A supermarket near me has a wonderful floral selection and specializes in weddings. If I was getting married back home I’d probably consider ordering from them if the price was right.

Hy-Vee is doing my flowers. I’ll let you know how they turned out after this Saturday! 🙂
