people hear you are getting married and they feel compelled to tell you all of the bad things they think about marriage? Yes, I know the divorce rate is over 50%, yes, I know that things can be stressful, etc, but marriage is important to us. I experienced something different though, the other day. I was getting my oil changed of all things and the guy at the oil change place saw my ring and said oh - you're engaged? When's the wedding? Sort of taken aback (it's mostly women who ask that, and wasn't expecting it at the oil change place), I told him in September and he said this - marriage is a big undertaking, but that he and his wife have been married for 34 years and it's the best thing they've ever done. Well, how about that ladies. An unsolicited, pro-view for marriage... FROM A MAN! :) I thought this was so fabulous and just had to share. I told him that I get a lot of 'oh why would you want to get married when the divorce rate is so high, etc' but rarely get positive comments, and that I appreciated it. Honestly, it made my day (and my FI's when I told him). :) I hope you all have a beautiful day! :)
