My husband and I didn’t go anywhere for Christmas so we didn’t really have a Christmas spirit this year.  He doesn’t want to get decorations until we are in a house we own again (and we don’t have storage space) so we didn’t decorate.

@Loribeth: Yeah we didn’t really do anything Christmasy anyway, didn’t do gifts or anything so it would have been sort of pointless.

Same here. My fiance’ and I stayed home this year because we are house hunting so everything else (with the exception of my job hunting) has taken a back seat, including the wedding. We are crossing our fingers on a house we tendered an offer for on Christmas Eve. It’s a short sale so who knows when we’ll hear from the lender. But if we get it, our wedding location may change (to our new home) and our guest list will become even smaller.

I didn’t decorate this year and my fiance’ and I didn’t exchange gifts. I went gift shopping for my niece and nephew but that was it as far as Christmas went.

We did gifts on Christmas eve this year. When I woke up on Christmas I didn’t have that “feeling” I was expecting, but I assumed it would turn up through out the day. Nope. We definitely will be doing gifts and everything else Christmas-y on Christmas day only next year.

I agree – it didnt feel the same. I just wasnt as excited throughout the season. Even though I actually had a great CHristmas this year it just didnt feel like it has in the past. I cant put my finger on it either though…

I agree. My sister’s fighting with my parents, so she and her husband and kids didn’t come. Also, my parents invited some really awkward cousins with no manners or respect, so my fiance and I spent a lot of time on his new IPad. lol

Glad I’m not the only one. I had a really great Christmas eve/day w/ my family and DH. But it came and went so fast, I felt like I didn’t have time to really enjoy it and take it all in.

This was the first year I didn’t see my parents on Christmas morning. So Christmas Day just felt like another Saturday. And when I did go see my family the eekend before, it just felt like every other time I go home – see family. See friends. Get back on plane.

Same here.  But I think I was just pissed that Xmas was on a weekend so I didn’t get extra weekdays off of work. lol

I feel the same way. I had to work Christmas Eve, and then Christmas Day and today have gone by so fast. It didn’t help that I spent most of yesterday with my SO’s family since nobody in my family ever called me and/or invited me to dinner like they usually do. No idea what I did to tick them off. And my guy didn’t exactly stick to the Christmas list I gave him, so while I got some wonderful things, it wasn’t quite what I expected. (Silly, I know.) I just feel a little sad for some reason. We didn’t celebrate Christmas when I was growing up, so I think now I build up my hopes too much, and get disappointed when things don’t go exactly as I think they should.

Oh yeah, and it didn’t help that I worked Christmas Eve and Christmas day.

Same here! It just didn’t feel all Christmas like this year. But we did ALOT of stuff differently. We didn’t do church the sunday before Christmas, I was shopping until the very, very last minute and it wasn’t really a white Christmas here. Usually we are traveling in a snow storm. It just was…odd.

This was the first time my son and daughter were not under our roof on Christmas morning.  They will all be here in three days though as we start getting ready for the girl’s 1/1/11 wedding.  Mellow Christmases aren’t bad- a lull in the new atmosphere of newleyweds until grandkids.  Then I will get to shop for toys again!  Seriously though, I know they were both a little sad about Christmas in an unfamiliar place.  I talked to my DIL yesterday and told her how I knew it was important as a woman to wake up in your parent’s house.  Her Dad travel a lot and he braved Heathrow airport with all the cancellations to be back in Houston for the holidays.  I am so happy for them- they love each other so much.
