I just realized my fancy "Feel" script I bought looks kinda Addams Family-ish for this word....lol
Which BTW says Finchampstead, which is Alex's hometown in England...

don't sweat the small stuff.... keep em around and once you can put the an entire table together you can decide
It's his wedding too. Let him pick something even if its way out there. When you see it on your wedding day, it will probably make you smile (laugh to yourself). Its like when I was little and was mortified when my dad did my hair once. Now I catch myself laughing at random times thinking of my lopsided pigtails.
I gave up on the idea of a PERFECT wedding. I can't wait until stuff happens at the wedding! It's going to be my personal blooper reel. Remember that you will still be just as married at the end of the day. You will always be your FH Queen. What more could you ask for?
Just give him a budget, and a LITTLE direction for the holders. Set him loose. Go with what he picks no matter what.
you know, i think this is one of those little details that in the grand scheme of things, dont matter. kwim?
i agree with an above commenter, let him pick something. he is getting married too....plus, it doesnt look bad.

I also think it looks fine the way it is, cube name holder included! Its pink, which matches with your paper. I would see your point if say, it were orange, but it looks like it matches to me. Anyway, I highly doubt guests will even notice what kind of name holder you're using...they'll be more into the food and talking to each other than scrutinizing if all the decor matches.
It is pretty hard to tell in in the picture - the pinks look pretty much the same. Of course, colors on computer monitor... whatever. I'm sure you can tell much better in person.
Will you have other things on the table? (flowers, petals, favor boxes) Or will you have colored linens? You might see if putting some more color around the base changes your opinion - it might draw your eye away from the box a little more.
Guys are funny - my FI either really, really feels strongly about a detail, or doesn't think it matters at all. I know that some of the things I am obsessing about (just lately, favor boxes) seem like a no never mind to him. (Sure, that looks great! Just pick one already!)
And I love the font!! It's a little gothic, but really, isn't a lot of England a little gothic?
Well the font is Feel Script, which is anything by gothic...but I used the wrong 'F' - it's an Open Type and I've managed to fix it now so it doens't look Addams Family. LOL. (PS Check out Mrs Lemons Blog on this font, justso you see why I'm a bit like "Ah!" It's coming off gothic Mrs Lemons Feel Script Blog )
The pinks are WAY off, I figured on the computer screen it wouldn't show but the cube looks more purple then anything. I suppose I could let it go, but it's really bugging me. And I just think he wants to use them because we have them, not because they are like his favorite thing in the world. And I'm like "It was $24, we'll survive" LOL.
Table linens will be black table cloths, whate chair covers with black sashes and pink (light) napkins. Nothing else but the favors will be on the table (other then general set up stuff, glasses, silverwear and all that) and the favors are a mirroed coaster tied in light pink ribbon.
can you wrap something around the pink block to hide it? like a black cloth/tissue paper and tie it together around the wire part with pink/white ribbon to match your scheme? perhaps that defeats your fiance's whole saving $$ idea, but it might come out better in the end than starting over.
Paper's cheap, spray paint's cheap, and it seems like a DIY project pretty much anyone could be trusted with if your groom's so inclined. Depending on what material the pink thingy's made from you might need to sand it a bit first.
If he hates it and can be bothered to change it (or new stand thingies could be bought cheaply) I'd let him change it. There's not much point matching the paper signs on tables to your invitations/name cards anyway - they could match the linens or some other accent if you're worried about matching?

I'm having a really hard time explaining to Mr S why this particular table name holder doens't fit with the rest of the sceme of the wedding reception.
Everything will be real elegant, candle lit, black linens. The paper is metallic (though the photo sucks so you can't tell) as is the charger the candles are on. The Elegant font with rinestone accents and then *BIG PINK BLOCK*.
Am I nuts? They really don't flow too well do they? Also I should point out the pinks (in the paper and in the block) are different and the one on the paper makes the block look almost amythest. The paper is the same as my invites and the name cards so I don't want to change it to match the "block"better.
What is with him, it was $24 for these holder, we're not going to live ina card board box if we don't use them....
