If you really love this jacket can you have it altered? I don’t know if they do that but just a suggestion. (And boo to me for being at work and not be able to see a pic of it!!!)

Wait so you bought the jacket before picking out a dress? I’d say don’t stress yourself out over fitting into/matching the jacket at this point, focus on finding your dream dress. You can always resell the jacket if it doesn’t fit!

I guess you’d have to see how/where it’s too snug. Is it to snug across the shoulders? Because even if you lose the 10 lbs, it’s not going to change your shoulder width. If it’s just too snug around the waist, keep it and wait and see what happens. You’ve already paid for it, and it doesn’t cost anything to hold onto it for a year. Take it with you when you go to try on dresses. If you find a dress you love but the jacket doesn’t work with it, sell the jacket. Maybe if you find a dress that works beautifully with the jacket it will give you even more motivation to lose the couple of pounds!

I personally think you can lose the weight, or find another one in the timeframe and resell this one. I think getting a more simple (affordable) dress and making it your style with a less expensive bolero is a really well thought out compromise. I wouldn’t abandon it yet! Even if you just did ARM exercises you could probably fit in a little better.

GOOD! i am glad b/c this is a very nice bolero!

If it helps, my husband said this to me when I was trying to decide between 3 dresses. I liked the strapless that was too small w/ a structured top – he liked the other 2. He helped zip me into the strapless, and I said that maybe I could lose a couple of lbs or tone up, but he just shook his head and smiled and told me I couldn’t exercise my ribs and bones away! If it was ill fitting in a place that I had a few to go, sure.. But if it’s your shoulders or rib cage or other actual structural things, then you’re out of luck. Since you know it’s not your shoulders, you’ll be just fine with a little time!

It’s so pretty! I wonder if a seamstress could add an ivory ribbon down each side seam to make it a little bigger?
