- Wedding: Disneyland - January 2016
So I figured I needed to post something positive, and what better way than to post my official proposal story! I’m actually kind of surprised I didn’t do it the second we got home, but I guess I was a little distracted haha.
Anyway, he proposes Friday, October 31st-Halloween! I can’t believe it’s been over a week…
Our story in a nutshell, he surprised me by picking me up after work on Thursday. He must have packed up my entire room, because I had everything to last me for a whole month! He took me to get my nails done, which turned out quite amusing since he was rather fascinated by the whole process and he ended up with a manicure himself. Very nice 😉 Then, we were off to Disneyland!
We didn’t show up till after midnight, and by the time I got into bed it was around 2:30 am. I was exhausted, but figured my excitement and nerves would make it easy to wake up the next day. Oh my gosh, excep he woke me up just 3 hours later! I’ll tell you, I wasn’t a very happy camper. I am NOT a morning person and couldn’t see the reason getting up 3 hours before the park even opened. Randomly he got a phone call and actually left me in the room alone. Again, kind of irritated. Then he showed up with a woman I’ve never met before…to do my hair and make-up! He had hired a professional! Suddenly needing 2 hours to get ready made way more sense.
Speeding up, we finally make it to the park, have an awesome character meal (where I finally got to see Stitch in person! Yay!), go on a couple rides and even meet with a few princesses for pictures. Finally, we slowly meander our way over to Snow White’s wishing well and my heart started beating SO fast. Her wishing well is a very special place for us and I just knew. He gave me a coin, told me to make a wish. It seemed impossible to focus. Finally, slowly, he turned me around and have me an amazing, beautiful speech. He got down on one knee and wow, both our hands were shaking. When he placed the ring on my finger and stood up he swept me into a hug. It was absolutely perfect. Later he told me he was disappointed as he had hoped to sing me song, but found out last minute that Disney would not have allowed him to bring his ukelele into the park. Oh well. I love it and wouldn’t change a thing.
I love it!!!! It’s a .93 carat colorless sapphire set in white gold and surrounded by tiny diamonds. I never really had an idea in mind for what kind of ring I wanted and so he was 100% on his own choosing this for me. A rose is so so special to me, it could not be more perfect.
The whole experience was so amazing. After he proposed we were approached by a man with a camera who had apparently been taking photos the entire proposal…someone else my FI (eek! Omg that sounds awesome haha) had hired! He was actually a professional photographer and was going to be taking our photos for the next two hours all throughout the park! It was so surreal, we had discussed how awesome engagement pics in the park would be, but didn’t think he could since we weren’t sure we could afford another trip anytime soon. It was so much fun, he had never taken them in the park before and he wound up sticking around longer than his allotted time.
The entire weekend was a blast. Aside from our professional pics we took sooooo many around the park, including purchasing a Photopass for all the rides and hot spots. We did so much more than just going on rides-shows, parades, talking with characters, pin trading, everything! It was fantastic, and by the end of the trip we had accumulated more than enough Happily Ever After buttons to last us a lifetime 😉
