The sneaky devil. 

Apparently the ring was finished in December and he picked it up 2 weeks ago. Word to the wise - don't pry too much, he may be having trouble coming up with lies to throw you off. I only asked a couple questions and left it at that because I didn't want to be a pain in the a$$ but after the fact he said he was so glad I didn't ask anymore cause he was having trouble making up a bigger and bigger and more elaborate lie. 

So, got to the Hotel Monacho in Denver, got checked in and headed to the top floor. Found out the management had upgraded us to one of their corner penthouse suites. There were rose petals all over the floor, leading into the bedroom, and a bouquet and champagne in the living room. Stupid me didn't think anything of it. I was still too taken away by the suite and the 30 ft ceilings. I just thought every penthouse suite came with rose petals on the floor. Sigh...(slaps palm to forehead).

Walk into the bedroom and put my stuff down, turn around to gush some more about the room and realize that my guy isn't at eye level anymore. He's on his knee proposing. Apparently he had the ring with him the whole trip (I had no idea). Apparently, before then, he had the ring in a drawer that I use all the time and for whatever reason I never saw the box. The poor guy was shaking and I wasn't able to cry till I was sure he was ok. :) He did an absolutely amazing job. Wish there was more room to brag about how in depth this surprise was for him. I'm still blown away.

And on to the part I'm sure you're all skipping to :

Had I known it was happening I would have put a fresh coat on my nails. Specs (if you care, if you don't -ignore) 1.5 Light Fancy Yellow Cushion VS1, properly a size 4.5 finger but sized up to a 5 for summer swelling.

Congrats!!! I love your ring because it is the exact same style as mine (cushion halo, split shank, white gold)! TO DIE FOR!!

Thanks everyone! Started to reply to everyone individually and then was surprised by how many nice things you all were saying. 

It was a really wonderful day. Apparently he stole my parents number from my phone (only assuming that's how he got it) last month and called to ask for their permission. He showed my dad the ring days before he proposed, right after we arrived in CO and BOTH my parents knew it was coming. They have excellent poker faces. 

I was surprised that it doesn't feel different. I always read about how ppl feel different, they finally feel like someone's fiance as opposed to a bf/gf situation, how it becomes real. But I didn't get that. I think he always felt like my FI without officially being that. :) 

Thanks for always listening to me vent and thanks for letting me super stalk all the ring threads. At least now I finally have something to share. :)

Oh, and apparently the ring was sitting in a drawer that I use all the time in his office. Also, I guess I had gotten into that drawer several times while it was hiding in there and I never saw it. He said I nearly gave him a heart attack when he found out I was in there and wasn't sure if I had seen it. I hadn't. :)
