YAY! I totally remember that day. We were so excited that it was all feeling very real, but at the same time it was a feeling of oh man, there's so much to do! So happy for you - your day is coming up so so soon! :)
@pengoala: Thanks. The really fun thing about all of this - we feel like kids again. You'd think we'd never done this but I feel just like a giddy young girl. We giggled the whole way there and back. Kept making remarks like " There is still time to run, they are only on number 34!" One of the sherrifs at the county clerks office took the picture. As we left he said "you kids have fun!!" I am sure this guy was a good 15 years younger than us.
@december bride: Yay congrats! We live in TX and our license was different than yours. I wonder if they differ b county.. hmm.. Anyway, it gave me the most giddy feeling and I totally know what you mean about feeling like kids! Such an exciting time!
@Mrs.ChubbyBunny: I totally remember your story about the bug. I mentioned your story to my FI on the way to get our license today. I was very pleased we had no bug encounter, but hey this is Texas. You just never know what critter will invade your space.
Yay!
I just noticed that your date is the same as the one I am contemplating but ours a year later (Dec 2/12)
How has the wedding planning been for you since it is between Thanksgiving and Christmas? Have you encountered any problems because it is right in the middle of prime holiday time and have you had any issues with vendors being already booked and busy due to Christmas parties?
Thanks and congrats!
@lilsweetie: Congrats to you too! A couple of things - I am having a very small wedding. 30 people that is all. It is a second wedding for us both and so wanted to keep it special but not inappropriate. That makes it a little different. Also ours will be a on a friday which also makes things different.
But to answer your questions. My main goal (which I have been able to achieve) was to have everything done by October first. So even though my date is 12-2-11 in my head I told my self 10-1-11 just so I didn't get bogged down at the end during the holidays. The only things I have had to do are the last minute things - hair, nails, license, packing etc. The week before I plan to write the last few check and have them in enveoples so we just hand them out on the day. I had a bad experience with a photographer who bailed on me just a week ago. But I was able to get another the same day. So I would have to save no about vendor being booked. I might add that I got engaged in June of this year. So basically planned the whole thing in 5 months. I had one very rude person tell me they thought having a wedding on a friday at 1:00 was a bad idea. Everyone else said they thought it was a great excuse to take a day off work and get an early start on holiday shopping before the wedding. I have had a great time with the theme since Christmas is pretty much out there starting in Ausust at leat in craft stores. My friends have loved throwing holiday themed showers and I am having a blast with a great mix of both Christmas music and wedding music. I personally think the holiday wedding is easier because - not everyone has ever done a wedding before but many people have planned a christmas party. It real is the same thing! Plus any left over items get used in the house afterwards no thinking when will I ever use this again. I will be posting picture afterwards. You might get some ideas!
Thanks for your response!
We want a small wedding (maybe even less than 30 ppl). It sounds wonderful and we have now decided to go with December 2, 2012. thanks again for your input - I would love to see pictures afterwards.
@lilsweetie: Congratulations to you. The only thing that I would do differently if I had a year to plan - put a bit of money aside for Christmas. I am now starting to think about holiday shopping and I am broke. I wish that I had planned that part a little differently. I am having an Christmas ornament shower tonight - So excited!!!
@lilsweetie: Hey get some sleep girl! your reply was from 2 hours ago. It is only 8:30 here in Texas and we are two hours ahead of you. What were you doing on wedding bee at 4:30???? LOL

I am so excited. The wedding is about 3 1/2 weeks away. Having a bridal shower on Saturday and today we got our marriage License!! I went by FI office to pick him up, apparently he told his boss and a couple of the guys what he was doing at lunch today. So when I walked in they said - Well, he didn't run away! It feels VERY real now. I think I am about to bust with excitment!!!
Anyone else just recently get their license? Tell us about it. How do you feel now!!
