Get shorter acrylic nails?

Giving up my acrylic overlay after a 10 year addiction was like giving up meth…I felt weak, listless, empty. My nails were the texture and strength of a soggy communiun wafer, I couldn’t even scratch my own ass if I’d wanted to…it was horrific.

I’m 3 years clean/bare nailed. Couldn’t have done it without Sally Hansen nail hardener and my sponsor/nail tech, Cathy. It’s been costly, as I now have to get a regular manicure weekly as opposed to biweekly trips. Occasionally I’ll treat myself to a gel/Shellac mani…but not often. Life isn’t the same…but I get by.

You can do it too. Let me know if you ever want to talk.

@QuirkySocialite:  +1, I’m glad I stopped with the acrylic nails though, ditto to the Sally Hansen nail hardener.

@Nona99:  I would say keep your natural nails and get a shellac manicure. I don’t do well with talons either 😛

@Nona99:  How about No chip manicures?  I love them but hate sitting in the salon for hours so I decided to try the at home kit and I swear by it plus it saves me cash:)

Try the gel polish. I got it for the wedding. It’s hard and thick like acrylics, but I don’t have to deal with something being glued on my finger, and you can keep your natural nails shorter. (But then I was never a big fan of acrylics… I usually couldn’t wait to get them off.)
