We went to Italy and Greece for our honeymoon.  Actually just one place in Italy: Rome.  We booked everything ourselves.  it was pretty easy.

I didn’t go to Italy for my honeymoon but I have been and it is amazing. I went with Trafalgar Tours. October is when it starts to cool off and the country starts back up to its normal pace after the summer and tourists have gone.

Italy was one of our honeymoon destinations. We went to Venice, Florence and Rome. We booked through his mom travel agent. We told her our budget, our destinations, and how long we have in mind. She put together something that is close to our budget. She book air fair, train tickets and hotels that comes with breakfasts (not sure if that’s standard)and bathroom in the bedroom. She warned us anything below 3 stars are likely not to have the own bathrooms.

Addition: it doesn’t hurt to look into travel agent. If you don’t like their package, you don’t have to go with them. The down side of using travel agent, is that once you booked, it’s final. We were supposed to stay in Paris for 4 nights, but we were invited to go to another city to visit someone. We checked out early, but didn’t get the $$$ back for the one night we didn’t stay. We were not surprise, but still would be nice to get money back.

I am thinking of Italy, too. I’d like to go to Rome, Naples, and spend most of our time at the beaches, though.

Right now, I plan on coordinating it myself, but I may consider a travel agent as it seems to be a lot to put together.

Not for a honeymoon but I have been to Italy.  I went to Rome, Venice, Florence and Sicily.  Florence was my favorite city but it was also nice to see Sicily.

Not for my honeymoon, but have been there a few times.  I highly recommend Santa Margarhita/Portofino and the Cinque Terre!  Definitely hike the Cinque Terre if possible! Loved it there.  Friends got marriend in Santa Margarhita last fall and it is beautiful along the coast!

I booked all of our trip for me and my fiance, but I love planning trips!  We started in London, flew to Venice, train to San Margarhita, spent 5 days and hiked/visited the Cinque Terre towns, train to Florence, train to Rome, and then flew to Paris.  We did some hotels, and an apartment rental via VRBO in Rome!  The apartment in a great location and was nicer and more affordable than the hotels we had been looking at!  I didn’t want to leave.  Beautiful country, amazing food, and nice people.

I think you will love it!  Good luck planning and have a gelato for me while you are there!

I went to Italy two summers ago, and want to do my honeymoon there. It’s beautiful. We were in Rome. You just have to be careful where you stay in Rome, some of the neighborhoods are GORGEOUS…but not nice places. My friend and I RAN from a B&B to a Holiday Inn outside of the city, but right near the Metro (which is free) and were able to go into the city and walk around every day.
