I am wondering if I should be concerned about something.
When I was born, I had a strawberry birthmark in the middle of my back. It was probably about 3 inches long, maybe 1-2 inches across. It was raised (rough-ish I guess)? and pretty gross looking from what I understand.
However, the doctors told my mom not to worry about it and that it would probably fade.
It did fade completely by the time I was 2 (thank god).
Now I have just a faint “scar” on my back. Sometimes people can see a light outline like when I have a tan or something, but for the most part it’s almost invisible.
Anyway, off and on over the last few years, I’ve noticed that it gets RIDICULOUSLY itchy sometimes. Like, for days/weeks at a time it’s incessantly itchy. And nothing makes it stop.
This might sound weird, but it seems like it gets really itchy when my allergies are acting up, like when the seasons change.
Then months will go by with no itching at all.
I know that if someone has a visible, questionable looking birthmark and it itches, they should get it checked out.
But what about faded birthmarks that are only itchy sporadically?
Does anyone think I should be worried??
