My lower lip started getting itchy on Saturday night, right in the area around the bottom edges of my upper teeth when my mouth is closed. The lower lip is swelling up at night when I’m asleep. I’m taking Benadryl to help with the itching.
Anybody have any ideas what’s going on?

@strawbabies: when you take allergy medicine is it going away? have you used any new products, eaten anything out of the norm?

that definitely sounds like an allergic reaction. think very carefully through any changes you may have made recently! I got a really slow-growing allergic response once that started out barely noticeable but then grew to become terrible itchy hives all over my thighs and butt. The culprit? Prenatal vitamins I had started taking over a month prior. You definitely want to figure out what’s causing it and stop taking it before it gets worse!

@strawbabies: Yeah definitely some sort of allergic reaction. Did you change anything at all, vitamins, toothpaste, mouthwash, something you’re eating, drinking before bed, your detergent, new sheets, etc? I hope you figure it out soon!

We did change toothpaste recently, and that’s the only thing I can think of. I switched back to the old one this morning, hoping that’s the culprit and that it’ll end soon.

@strawbabies: Just be mindful of what you’re eating/using. I developed a peanut allergy when I was in my early 20s, even though I had eaten many peanuts and peanut products growing up. Allergies can emerge spontaneously.
