    Okay Bees... with the big stuff outta the way (DJ, photog, venue, etc), it's time for me to focus on the details!  Our colors are black, ivory, and royal purple.

    I am obsessed with wedding blogs like SyleMePretty and OnceWed because I love the eclectic look that some of their details can take on.  Everything always looks like a magazine shoot *sigh*

    Thus far, I have only settled on two decor details for our upcoming nuptuals and, luckily, FI loves them!

    Detail One:  We have a fireplace in our cocktail area that will remain open, as the bar is in there, for the duration of the reception.  We are going to ask parents and grandparents for a copy of their wedding portraits to put in vintage frames for the mantle above the fireplace.

    Detail Two:  I LOVE little chair hangers that denote the Bride and Groom's seats.  Everyone will know they are our seats.  We will know they are our seats, but there is something about them that looks so great!!  I have been stalking Michael's to find the perfect tools to make them... I'm thinking black wiring with deep purple ribbon- something contemporary and streamlined.

    What other ideas do you have for decor details?

    Have you saved images tht you like to a folder? If not, start now and don't forget to label them with the source.

    If you have, go through them, pick out your favorites and figure out what calls to you. Do they have anything in common? Color? Vintage? rustic? Garden?

    Once you figure that out, you should be able to make progress.

    Make sub folders for centerpieces, guestbook or alternatives etc.

    Then make some decisions.

    @julies1949:

    ditto, I have been saving inspriation for a long time to try and cultivate a vision/narrow the scope of decor.

    @vanilla frosting:

    is there anything else you've noticed on blogs that really draws your eye? Signage? Flowers? lanterns? Uplighting? draping? etc etc?

    Whenever I find something I like I either bookmark it or save the image for future reference. Somethimes the details will grow on me and sometimes I'll look at it later and go "what was I thinking!?!"

    Have you tried throwing together an inspiration board yet? just to get the ball rolling?

    You don't need a fancy program like photoshop to dido it (though you could use PS or GIMP), you can use Picasa web albums to make boards or even MS Paint, sure they won't look 'professional' but it can help to organize your thoughts.
