@codysgirl16:

invitations, depending where you order them from, could take a few weeks.  i designed mine and printed through vistaprint, took less than 2 weeks to get.

officiant: what kind of ceremony do you want? religious or civil? have you been to any weddings recently that you liked the officiant?

@codysgirl16:  As PP mentinoed, Vistaprint is pretty affordable and quick.  I did ours through Zazzle and I literally had them in less than a week (also afforadable!)

Whew! I am in a similar boat as you!!!! We are having only a 5 month engagement and trying to pull off a big elegant wedding (250-300 guests) !!!!

3 months away and I have

  • ordered my dress
  • had engagement pics done, photographer contracted
  • Have church & seperate officiant
  • sent 80% of my save the dates
  • Guest list (mostly) drafted
  • Invitations mostly ordered (just finalizing wording, guaranteed 1 month delivery date)
  • Caterer contracted but not met with (using a big Chicagi catering company, happen to be friends with their produce supplier, not terribly concerned. should I be?)
  • DJ chosen
  • Cake ordered
  • card holder ordered
  • guest book idea planned and items bought

Still need to do (July, August and September):

  • Finalize guest list (with contact info)
  • Pick first dance and father daughter dance
  • Test bake cake flav
  • find hair and makeup
  • hire lighting (necessary for our location
  • hire church musicians
  • find veil
  • buy underpinnings
  • plan rehearsal dinner (location dtermined, not booked. owner friend of my dad’s not too worried again
  • order tuxes –doing this THIS week
  • find flower girl dresses. –how hard can this be… right? right!?!?
  • purchase attendant gifts
  • also my bachelorette party and shower have not been planned….

Would love it if we could support one another in this process!!!! I recently left my job so am wedding planning and working on my dissertation full time. Feel free to private message me 🙂

Also, don’t know if this is tacky but…

could your groomsmen pitch in and come over for a house-painting or re-sodding “party”??

My fiance LOVES helping friends with home improvement projects, we don’t have our own home so he lives vicariously through them… just a thought to help get things done
