After almost a year of dress browsing, I finally abandoned the idea of finding “The One” and crying about it, etc. I spotted a great deal on a dress I liked on ebay, chatted with the super sweet lady who was selling it, called my mom, and bought it.
I thought it was going to be too big and slightly shorter than I wanted it, since it was an altered-down size 6 and I’m on the small end of a bridal 2. The previous owner said she was 5’2″ and wore 3″ heels, which wasn’t a problem since I’m only 5’3″, so I’ve been “curating” 2″ heels for the past two weeks.
And it came yesterday! The seller made a bow on the box and sent a card wishing me luck in my marriage. Much to my surprise, the dress is a near-perfect fit, and quite a bit longer than expected.
Basically a perfectly-fit, immaculate condition dress with a workable bustle. FOR $650. I love it, FI loves it, we’re over the moon. I sent its previous owner a picture, and she seems so pleased that it’s going to be worn again.
There’s some pulling through the bust, but I might just snip out the cups to see if that solves the problem. I might replace the straps with tulle ones, since I’m not totally sold on the lacey straps. And I think I’ll add a floral belt.
Putting this one in the “win” category!

It’s so pretty! What an amazing find!
And just to give you some perspective from the seller’s point of view: 3 years ago i sold my Grandmother’s horse figurine collection online (different…I know, but bear with me). They’re some super collectible brand, and I actually heard back from a few people who had bought them as gifts, including one who wrote to tell me how excited his daughter was to get hers as a graduation gift. It was so sweet, and I was incredible thankful to know that they were bringing someone else joy 🙂 You should keep her email and send her a wedding pic too. I bet she’d love that.

I found my dress on ebay too, a priscilla of boston that I was sure I’d never be able to find… It arrived, fit me perfectly. It was the mother of a bride. Similar story, she was so happy to find someone else to wear it!.

I wouldn’t add a belt. I love the criss-cross effect as-is.
