@s.renea9: Me too. i seriously have to think about it… aparently writing your name one way for 22 years is a hard habit to break 🙂

I am changing my name but I’m dreading my signature changing. My signature is already completely illegible, how do I switch it over?

Congrats! Love it!!! I cannot wait until October to be able to do the same!! In the States do you guys have to wait the 3 months to apply for your certificate as well? We are allowed to assume the last name but can’t change anything until we have the certificate.

@MrsHowarts: its only been a month for me. i just needed our original marriage certificate (which only took a couple weeks to get). you have to wait 3 months?? Bummer! But still will be sooo nice to get that done! 🙂

Been married 2 months today and haven’t even had time to get my name changed. Havent’ had time during the day to leave work to go to the Social Security office. It’ll probably take me another few months. In my head I have a new last name already, but darn the hours of the Social Security office… 9-3:30!!!!
Congrats to you.

@MrsHowarts: I thought I was going to have to wait for the marriage certificate too, but I was able to use the “Record of Solemnization of Marriage” that was taken off the bottom of the license and given to us after the ceremony. I don’t know if this is because I am changing my name in Nova Scotia (we were married in Ontario) or if it would work anywhere in Canada.

I can’t wait either! I’m in limbo right now waiting for our license to be finished.
