I had my IUD removed in April.  I got a period about 10 days later, and my cycles returned to normal after that.

I’m now pregnant and due next April– it took one month of actively trying to get KU!

Posting to follow…

I also have the Mirena IUD and this is something I’ve been thinking a lot about lately. We won’t be TTC for another year or two, but I’d like to know if I should take it out early and switch to a different form of BC in the meantime. I’ve read some negative effects of TTC too early after IUD removal but I’d like to hear real experiences!

@TraLo:  Thanks.  FWIW, I had a Mirena for 4.5 years.  Good luck!

@TraLo:  commented to follow thread.  We are planning on trying for baby #2 after our wedding which is just one week before yours….. but I do not want to get preggo before the wedding or have Aunt Flo during the honeymoon – so I am torn on when to take the Mirena out!!

@TraLo:  Ah ok I can’t really say then but I think there is a bit of an adjustment period, more tha ngetting your period is wether you are ovulating regularly, I believe. I just got mine out but it was Paraguard. Technically it shouldn’t change things cycle wise at all so i was going to speak to that. I also just got my first period post IUD and it was lighter with less cramping than usual. It was a nice change!

For some women, it can take a couple cycles after taking out the mirena before your cycles will get back on track. Hopefully you’ll be one of the ones who gets back to normal right away!

Good luck! I hope you get your BFP soon!

My doctor told me that it will be the easiest to conceive the week it’s taken out. Of course it’s different for different people.

I haven’t TTC, but I had the Mirena in for 2 1/2 years.  I got my regular period back with a few weeks, maybe sooner.  I hadn’t had a period for almost 2 years with the mirena.  I assume I could have concieved right after my period, although I don’t know that for sure.

I had Implanon which is the same horomone as the Mirena (I had that in for 6 months before it legit fell out) and had 1 long cycle (36 days w/ ovulation on day 24) and one cycle ending on day 40 w/ a BFP- O on day 28- the only time we had unprotected sex during my O.   was told up to 6 months and I had been one hormone BC since I was 17.  I am 30 and due in Jan.
