I am on mirena and have been for a little over 2 years now. I was just wondering if anyone knows the process of having it removed… I am kind of dreading it because it actually hurt when they gave me the shot in the cervix to put it in. Will they have to do that again to take it out??

when i had mine removed it was uncomfortable, it felt like she just clamped the strings and pulled the thing out, but not too painful i got crampy for maybe 4hrs, just used ibuprofen, and real light spotting but i went to work the same night ( i work the graveyard shift :>) so overall it was not a big deal… however they never shot my cervix for placement nor for removal, i guess it just depends on your doctor
by the way if your TTC it only took me 5 months to get preggo!! 🙂

@MAGENTA0724: thanks! They gave me a shot to dialate me just a little so they could put it in… and the shot hurt! I wonder how it is going to affect my conceiving abilities… when I got pregnant before I was ever on birth control (not trying) I got pregnant on the first go LOL…

I had them removed twice. It wasn’t too bad for me at all. They just yanked it out and I went home. I had a friend however that had a terrible time with hers being taken out. She took some pain meds before hand and afterwards and she said it was still terribly painful for her. I think peoples experiences probably vary quite a bit.

I just had my Mirena inserted today – and it was the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life aside from having my kids “naturally”… I am cramping so badly that I want to take this thing out of me ASAP! I will Never reccommend this to anyone who wants to experience the amount of pain that comes with this procedure. Can I just reach in there and pull this thing out? I’m over it!!
