So tonight I had a problem I haven't had before.  I was hoping someone would know what to do.

About 45 minutes into sex, we decided to change postions and he noticed I was bleeding.  We stopped things, but I'm still bleeding about 2 hours later.

I have had the IUD for now 6 years (replaced it in 11/2008) and I haven't had a period for about 5 of those years now. So no, it's not my period.

We are thinking the IUD got dislodged and that is what is causing the bleeding, but I'm not sure. I think I should go to the doctor, but I hate to be a worry wort.  If it's just he tore me on the inside or bumped into the cervix/uterus (which does happen) I would just refrain from the relations to heal. But if it's the IUD I'm wondering if I should be speaking to the doctor.

While I'm extremely small/tight we have realized it's not a tear or anything on the outside. I'm getting a bit nervous.

Has anyone had the IUD dislodged during sex? If so, what has happened?

Thanks and sorry for the TMI :)

I've never had an IUD but I would definitely go to my ob/gyn.  Even if it's just a bumped cervix, I'd want a professional opinion.

Yeah, definitely get that checked out!  Better to be safe than sorry when it comes to that region :)

It is probably no big deal, maybe a hormone change and you're having a period (this can happen due to stress!), or maybe it did dislodge... but still call the OBGYN. That is what they're there for. :)

I'd go to the OBGYN. I have an IUD too and have never had this problem - its probably a good idea to be safe.

    Definitely go see your gynecologist.

Yeah I went to the walk in at my doctor's office. They think my cervix just got bumped b/c apparently that's where it's coming from. I'm not a hundred percent sure about that, but they said if it continues in a few days they will do an ultrasound.

I actually think we jump started the cycle. IF I'd been having one (my old cycle was end of the month/first of the month), it would be around this time.  Which is just bizzare being as the last one I had was two days and in July 04 :p  And I just started having mild cramps this morning so we will see.

Thanks for not being squirmy about this :)

Keep us posted on what the outcome actually is.  I am thinking about getting an IUD so things like this prove useful info to know ahead of time.

Just my cervix bumped, nothing to do with the IUD, I mean he is good, but not that good :p

It stopped by mid afternoon the next day and we made up the same night with no issues, so yay!

I do have a very shallow, tipped back cervix so my doctor just asked the position and then laughed and said not to do it anymore. LOL So we are taking her advice!
