It’s absolutely possible to do! You’ll need to have it re-plated once a year or so to prevent the white gold from wearing off and revealing the “yellow” of the gold underneath, but that’s true of all white gold jewelry. It’s lovely!

It CAN be done, but it isn’t highly recommended. White gold is alloyed with white metals, so even unplated it will never be truly yellow. But yellow gold will show through rhodium plating relatively quickly, and quite fast if your skin tends to be acidic. A better bet would be to have the setting made in white gold or platinum, which a reputable jeweler could have done without a huge difference in cost. I’d definitely look into a white gold or platinum setting before committing to a lifetime of significant upkeep on a plated ring (then again, I cannot wear anything plated, as my skin wears plating away much faster than average).
