We got engaged in the same month as you, and while we're not waiting as long to get married, we are still waiting 28 months, which is pretty long as well!
I understand your feelings, but I just keep reminding myself that my day will come and then the wait will have been worth it!
It's also helped to really embrace this period of engagement. No need to rush through the engagement...enjoy it! It should be a pretty blissful time, especially because the wedding shouldn't be a huge stressor. Use this time to make your wedding just what you want it to be and also make some great memories with your FI while looking forward to your future together.
haha I know just how you feel! We were engaged for 2 years and a couple of months before we JUST finally got married :) We waited for the same reasons, so that we could finish school and be more financially stable. I don't know how I did it, because I definitely planned the whole way through since I couldn't resist. Knowing that we didn't have the money at the time helped, because it wasn't as if we could have got married right away and were just waiting around for whatever reason.
I would say just enjoy being engaged for now. You can stretch the whole "I'm a bride!" thing for a long time :) lol

FI and I are going to have a long engagement (engaged march 09', probably won't be getting married until jan 12' due to finances/school) so that we can start our life together on financially solid ground, but I've got perpetual wedding ants in my pants! How did you other ladies with long engagements keep yourself from going nutty?
