    Hi,
Anyone been in this pickle before? Just had enough of all the planning and wishing you would haveput your money towards something for yourselves? I think I've reached that point!!

Our wedding is 5 months away. I'm completely happy with my fiance and a lot of the big plans we've made together. I just didn't realize what I was in for when I said I wanted a small wedding under $2000. Our 'small" wedding has become a modest 130 unconfirmed and our catering is costing $3700. Bye bye budget and small wedding.

Narrowing down the guest list was the hardest. Our sides are fairly even, with regards to numbers, but you can't invite Aunt A without inviting Aunt B on the same side, so ourguest list is bigger than we would have liked, mostly due to including family members. We have mutual friends for the most part so perhaps 12 friends, the rest family.

We have deposits down for our venue, catering and decorator. We've laid down $900 in deposits, but I am a pt student and work pt and FI just started a new full time job. We have paid for this ourselves and with the exception of the DZJ and flowers will be paying for the rest ourselves too.

I'm anxious because FI asked a cousin of his to stand for him last October and we still haven't heard if he was able to take time off, plus a new baby arrived last month, we know they are busy, but just give us a yes or no!

Catering is costing us more than we budgeted. Not too much else we can do there, except cut costs elsewhere and I am not buying anything that is not important to the overall wedding. I am DIYing many things like invites, programs, decorations to save money. I am very tight with my budget and do not splurge on everyday items as we are very disciplined with our savings. i bought my dress used for $200.

Long and short of it is that I feel that we could have had the trip of a lifetime to make awesome memories, would have loved to go on a cruise of 10 days in a balcony suite for the money we've alloted for having one day with family and friends. I know on the day of I will enjoy it, but its the meantime all this planning and watching things add up even on the cheap that takes the fun out of it. I will scoop up the leftovers nyone leaves behind because its costing us a pretty penny! At this point we are depending on wedding gifts to put towards a honeymoon, but likely can't afford to take one for a few years.

Would love to hear from you ladies who have been there done that!

I feel the EXACT same way. While my wedding budget isn't quite what yours is, (and good on you to keep it low) it is the same feeling. I feel like with all this money we're spending it could have gone to more reasonable more adult expenses.

AND I just found out that my photographer has been screwing people over recently and taking bad pictures which totally freaks me out.

I want to call the whole thing off and fly to Hawaii and get married there, perhaps underwater where no one can talk and tell me I'm doing it all wrong, and this is how THEY would like me to do it.

I want that moment where I walk down the aisle and everyone turns to look at me and my grooms breath is taken away, but the more money I spend on this D@MN wedding, the more I think, wouldn't I like to have that house, that vacation, that balcony room on a cruise? Wouldn't those be comparable memories to the few seconds of aisle staring? **Sigh**

I know this doesn't help you solve your problem, but just know you're not alone. I feel your pain!
