We've been engaged less than two months and already have our venue, photographer, my dress, shoes, and so many ideas for the wedding. This just lets you do some fun DIY, right? XD
Wow good for you! Going on 10 months engaged and I am way behind you!
wow, i feel behind schedule now...it is taking me forever to find a good photographer within our budget...
@tarheelgrad98: Exciting!! Congratulations! Hopefully your planning now will mean less stress later! :-D
Trust me you will find things to do but way to go for being way ahead of the game!
Wow, GREAT job!
I am a "planner" too. I think that I had the date set, venue booked, dress ordered, wedding decorator picked, photographer booked, DJ booked and ideas on all 3 centerpieces within the first couple of weeks.
MY FMIL told my FI that I would have this wedding planned so quick that all we had to do was sit around and wait for it to get here.
We have had our venue and dj booked for a few months now and I am thisclose to getting a dress.. and we aren't getting married until June of 2012, lol! I say good for you for getting it done early! From what I've heard and read, there will still be things that you will need and want to do. Looking the bright side.. less stress maybe?!
Very impressive!!! It really helps when you know what you want. I'm one of the most indecisive people I know... which has made wedding planning pretty difficult. As soon I think I have it all figured out, I change my mind! Very envious of you! Congrats on your engagement!
I'm deliberately pacing myself. i found the dress last month but not going in to buy it till the end of this month.. I dont want to have any remorse over certain decisions so I take my time to really think it through and before I commit to it. Good thing too because I have kept a mosaic journal of all my ideas since I got engaged and they definitely change alot as the weeks go by.
i was the same way immediately after we got engaged back in the middle of august... i had the church, hall, cake, photographer, & my dress all set in just a couple of weeks. i wanted to get as much done asap since i'm in law school and wanted to get as much done as i could during "slow" time at the beginning of the semester (free time doesn't really exist again until christmas break lol). the plan is to get most stuff done over christmas break then put as much as i can on hold for spring semester while i write my thesis-type paper... i'll have about a month after spring semester before the wedding to get all the last minute stuff done. it helps that i'm not difficult to please... i'm more about the marriage than the wedding... i'm excited that we're finally getting married (after 8 years of dating) so it doesn't matter to me if it's fancy... i'm happy with a very laid back wedding.

...we have set the date (6/23/11), booked the ceremony & cocktail hour site, booked the reception site, and are *this* close to booking the honeymoon; I've ordered my dress and picked out my daughter's dress (she's the "jr. bridesmaid."); I've put down the deposit for my silk bouquet and my daugher's silk bouquet; I've done the mock-up for our reception table centerpieces, and I have a nicely detailed spreadsheet with all the components and quantities I need to order to create 20 of those centerpieces and I'll get all the accoutrements ordered by Thanksgiving so we can assemble them over Christmas vacation. :-) I've started researching photographers and officiants, and I'm leaving the invitation design up to my FI and his creative design genius.
Eeek! At this rate, we'll have everything done by Christmas and I'll be twiddling my thumbs until June! What can I say...we know what we want and I'm an efficient project manager. I'm a bit of a planner. :-) Is anyone else waaaay ahead of schedule?? (OK, it's true that we sort of started talking about plans before he officially proposed a couple of weekends ago, but we really started pinning down details in early September.)
