We're doing white. The guy at Men's Wearhouse suggested it and FI agreed. Esp. since FI is wearing a grey tux, I think the ivory shirt will end up looking dirty.
White, we held the dress swatch up and it was closer to the white than the ivory.
even though the dress is considered ivory
I wore a "diamond white" dress from Maggie Sottero, which is not white, it's not quite off white either. It's in between.
My husband wore a white shirt and an ivory vest.
ETA: As requested, my pic of me in an ivory dress and DH in ivory vest.

I have an ivory dress, so he's doing a white shirt and an ivory vest. We had the option for an ivory shirt too, but it looked more yellow.
We checked out MW and he didn't like the ivory shirts cuz they had a texture or pattern to them (most of them at least).
My dress is from David's and it's ivory but it does not look ivory unless you hold it up to something bright white. So maybe white would be better?
Im having the ssame issue and we went to Mens Warehouse and the ivory shirts looked yellowish so Im doing white shirts with ivory vest and tie.
Please post pics if anyone did white shirts with ivory vests and ties...next to their ivory/off white dress.
My dress is definitely ivory, but I thought the ivory shirts I'd seen looked yellow and dirty. I took my dress to the tux shop to compare it against the shirts. I will definitely be making him wear ivory. No question. My dress looked way too dark against a white shirt.
@cradosta- I agree that the ivory shirts at Men's Warehouse look yellowish. The second tux shop I went to had much better shirts, so you may have to shop around to find a good ivory shirt.
I think you'd probably find that the ivory shirt is much more yellow than your dress. Honestly, they call bridal dresses ivory but they are just a shade or two from white. I think a white shirt would look better.
I had an ivory dress and the guys wore white shirts but since they all wore jackets you couldn't really see them. Actually, it's not the best picture but you can see his collar next to my dress.
FH is wearing a Charcoal wool blend suit from JCrew and the men are wearing Black suits....
I'm in ivory, FI will be in white!
Ivory just looks dingy to me... White shirt with ivory dress, or even champagne or gold is totally fine in my book!
Plus I think a crisp white shirt is sexy hahah - I think tux places will tell you ivory if you're in ivory b/c they dont' know that much and that's an easy answer to give.
White shirts. They are wearing gray tuxes and I didn't like the look of the ivory shirts - it was too yellow.
Since your doing a beach wedding have you thought about a linen suit? They come in a variety of shades from white to cream. I also had a friend with a beach wedding solve this by having him wear pink (although they are a little eccentric so I would never dare)
We were told that it should be a white shirt and the vest and tie will be ivory. if you have an ivory shirt it looks really dirty but the vest does not against a white shirt. our groomsmen are wearing white shirts and silver vests & ties. make sure you go and look at the items in person as they look different online than in person.
I actually put a lot of effort into finding the right shirt to match my dress, especially since I saw pics from a friend's wedding and you could clearly see the difference in pics where they were standing together and the groom was not wearing his jacket. His white shirt made her ivory dress look very dirty yellow.
The problem is that my DB, like others have said, is kind of in between white and ivory. The ivory shirts we looked at were all too yellow-y. But eventually we found a French-cuff shirt in "bone" that matches my dress exactly! I think we ended finding it on Amazon somewhere...
definitely not a fan of ivory shirts.... a crisp white shirt will look fantastic next to an ivory dress!
I selected other...my groom is wearing a black tux with a black shirt and an ivory vest and ivory tie.
Oh, I would just like to add that I would have loved to have a beach wedding. But DH didn't want a beach wedding. :(
These were some photos I got for inspiration for my beach wedding that never happened... :(

My dress is ivory and he's wearing
I think it's going to be really elegant.
@driver: FH is actually wearing linen suit pants but we are skipping the jacket. Much like the first picture yrret posted.
I actually found a shirt at JosA Bank that matches my dress exact. The color is right on and is between a white and ivory like most have said. It has a pocket and FH would rather it didn't, but if we have to that might work. I know ivory shirts are waaaaaaaaaay too yellow but I feel like white is too white is that makes sense.
I'm sure we'll figure it out. Maybe I'll just have him go blue like in yrret's inspiration pic since that is our wedding color
I wore ivory, the guys wore black suits with Stafford shirts in Ecru. It actually looked much more elegant that I would have imagined.
I'd post a pic but don't have good ones yet!
My dress is Ivory (close to champagne colored) and my FI is wearing a black suit, whte shirt and green or yellow tie
He wore a grey suit and a black and grey striped shirt(it's hard to see the stripes) :

My husband had a beige suit and blue shirt for our DW. Made his blue eyes pop and didn't have the white vs ivory dilemma. My dress was diamond white.
We JUST came back from tux shopping. The shop (mom and pop shop) suggested that the groom and groomsmen wear ivory dress shirts since my dress is ivory.
VERY exciting!!!
They did a great job of combining all the elements of our color!
he wore ivory, but i don't think it would make much of a difference either way. he had a pocket, i think he got it at mens warehouse.

I know this has probablly been asked before but I was just wondering for all you ladies out there in an ivory dress what color shirt your groom will be wearing?
Since we are having a beach wedding FH doesn't want to wear a jacket and that is fine with me, but I would really like his shirt to match my dress or at least look good with it. FH would like his shirt not to have a pocket, but it seems impossible to find in ivory!
I was just wondering if anyone had luck finding such a dress shirt? Or just decided to go with white against an ivory dress (and how did it look together)? Or maybe you went for a completely different color to solve the problem?
