I bought my ivory dress at David’s Bridal. I know Men’s Wearhouse is affiliated with DB but I don’t know how closely they match colors. FI and I are going to pick out tuxes soon..should I get the ivory vest & tie to match my dress? Obviously I can’t bring a color swatch so how do I figure out if it’s even close to the same shade as my dress?

My friend who wore an ivory dress was advised for him to also wear ivory, or else her dress would look dirty. I think so long as it isn’t pure white, it ought to be fine. It’s just like how your BM dresses won’t be an exact match to the GM’s tuxes.

actually, a lot of bridal salons WILL give you a color swatch–have you asked them at DB?

No, I haven’t asked but it’s Oleg Cassani which is their more expensive line, so I’m not sure if they will have it. I was just looking at the MW website and the range of ivory colors runs from barely ivory to canary yellow so I don’t want his vest to differ from mine THAT much. I think my dress is more on the white end of the “ivory color scale”.
See this is why I chose black BM dresses. Black is black wherever you go. No shades to worry about lol 🙂

Actually I think I just solved my own problem! MW allows you to select some colors and have swatches mailed to you, so I did that and I will compare it to my dress and see which color best matches. This way FI doesn’t have to know what my dress looks like (from a swatch of the dress) and I can get the best color match.
Thanks for your help!!

DB has color swatches for all dresses, at least the one near me does. Otherwise, do a different color that will correlate with your wedding colors.

I ordered swatches from MW and they sent a postcard with the colors printed on it. I was expecting fabric! We ended up not using MW and the guys bought a suit for the price of renting a tux from them

I had an ivory dress and the men did ivory vests from Friar Tux. It looked great, the white wouldve stood out too much against my dress.
