Sorry for all the related posts by me lately; I’m having bridal insanity!!! 🙂
Today’s most recent obsession is whether ivory or white looks better on me. The ladies at the bridal shop and I both preferred white under the artificial lighting, but when I look at it in photos I prefer ivory. It’s Alfred Angelo taffeta diamond white versus white; anyone have experience with their colors? The ivory just looks so yellow in person, but in photos of real brides it looks gorgeous, so I’m wondering if the bridal shop’s dresses are just old and faded and their lighting is especially yellow or if their fabric really is super yellow. Please advise! 🙂

It probably only looks yellow because you have true white right there to compare it to. Ivory almost always looks more natural. White can look very plasticy and cheap unless you have just the right skintone. Most people will think you are in white if you are in ivory. In these photos, you far and away look better in the first one even though I could never tell you without the labels which one is ivory and which one is white.

They both look almost exactly the same. I can’t tell the difference, for sure. Ivory often looks yellow in bridal shops, but that’s the lighting and the contrast between the super-white dresses.

Your coloring looks similar to mine, and ivory is way more flattering on me. White makes me look washed out. I didn’t actually realize that I was trying on ivory dresses until they brought me a white one and I saw them side by side.

My dress is an AA dress in diamond white. It did look pretty yellow in the store, but at home it looks ivory. I think ivory is much more flattering than white.

i bought an AA dress in diamond white (ivory) and I thought it was white the whole time! I asked the girl if I could try on the same style in diamond white and she laughed and said “you’re wearing it right now, girl!” Lol. I tried it on in white, and i looked like i was under a florescent lightbulb! I purchased the diamond white and I have no issue matching it to shoes or veils! 🙂
Diamond (white) is a girl’s best friend! 😉

AA seems to have three “whiteish” colors… white, diamond white, and ivory. The ivory looked best on me… the “white” was just too white, and the diamond white wasn’t ivory enough for my skin tone! I have really fair skin and the white just washes me out.

I think ivory tends to look best on most skin tones. I had a bridal shop owner tell me once that about 90% of brides get an ivory shade. Don’t overstress it

I prefer (and wore) ivory. It’s also less likely to wash out in photos, so your photographer will be better able to capture all of the details of your dress if it’s ivory (or so I’ve read on the Bee 🙂
