So my is ivory, but it has a lot of beading in the bodice and a tulle bottom. I’ve heard that when you have an ivory dress, you should stay away from anything white, because it can make your dress look dirty. We’re planning on having candle centerpieces and candles on the mantle, do you think it will be noticeable?

@meowbride: I’m going to go with a big no on that one. No one would notice.

@meowbride: That is an old wives tale.Nothing will make your dress look dirty-not white linens, white candles or a white shirt on the groom. In all cases your dress will look ivory.

@meowbride: The candles would have to be about five feet wide for anyone to notice a color difference. Don’t sweat it. White candles will be a-okay.

Originally my linen colors were ivory.. and my dress is stark freaking white – the whitest white ive ever seen in my life!
Everyone on the bee told me that it wouldn’t matter, but it drove me INSANE. Even my mom made a comment that it might look strange with me sitting at an ivory table.
We switched our colors from ivory to white, and I feel so much better about it. I’m a bit of a profectionist, so if I didn’t change it, it’s all I was going to think about.
I do notice the differances between ivory and white, maybe most people wouldn’t. But then again, there are also differant shades of ivory, the one we had used for our linens was a very dark ivory, my dress made it look almost yellow.
