@lovesunshine:  Ivory will photograph white.  A true white dress gets blown out in pictures.  (I used be a wedding photographer’s assistant and the brides that truly wanted an ivory gown were pissed when it photographed white.)  If your dress is lace or has a lot of detail, having it in ivory will ensure that the details show up in photographs (that is one of the reasons salons push ivory gowns.)

Why wouldn’t your ivory dress look nice with black tuxes?  The only thing you might want to consider is having the men wear ivory or off-white shirts instead of true white so they don’t contrast with your dress.

Ivory is a white dress, just another shade of the category “white.”  It will look rich and beautiful with black tuxes.  It photographs beautifully.  Just make sure the men also wear this shade of white shirt (or close to it). Also, make sure your veil and accessories are this shade.

Flowers (natural) are not ultra white-out white so they will be fine.  Get linens, veil, etc. in ivory.

Having an ivory dress is no more work than a white-out white dress, you still would have to make sure the groom’s shirt is “ultra white”  and your veil, linens…

Here is something I was told. The designer of the dress sends their dresses in the shade that they think it looks best in….which is why a lot of dresses are ivory. I had my heart set on a white dress as well and I didn’t even know my dress wasn’t white until the consultant told me it was ivory. You can’t tell unless it’s up against something white. It photographs beautifully with black tuxes. Here is a picture from my wedding day with black tuxes (I even had black tux shirts as well!). I have plenty more if you want to see other examples. Don’t worry, it will look wonderful together!
