Hi gals. I am looking for a dress as a guest for an upcoming wedding in December. My BF’ll be a groomsman and the colors are red and black (judging from the STDs). I don’t have a dress. But I’ve been looking at J Crew and had a few styles in mind. Can you ladies help?
Also, this is me in a navy J Crew Serena size 10. Is it too small for me? I’m very concerned about my girls falling out so any strapless style won’t work well with me.
I saw an eBay posting for a Janey 10P and I love the Janey style but it is discontinued. I wonder if I should go for it…(I’m 5’5″-6″ give or take).
Any tips and suggestions greatly appreciated!

@mireisen: I think it looks great on you – it’s a great silhouette! But, I am hesitant because it is pretty low. I think it shows too much of the chest in my opinion (I don’t think it’s the fit that causes this though – I think it’s the actual design of the dress).

I have a couple strapless dresses from j crew and i have a hard time keep them up! But i think that is because i have nothing there for them to hold on too lol! Im a small B.. and prob should have them tailored to fix the problem.
Anyways, I think your best bet is to go try them on. And J crew has amazing cardigans that look great with their dresses- i try to avoid the store because i will want to buy all the cardigans!

I really like the Janey dress but I don’t know if I’ll be able to fit into a 10P. I don’t know what the difference is between a 10 and 10P…maybe it’d just be shorter?

I think the Petite sizes are smaller in general

Honestly, I think the bustline is a little too low on you for a wedding. The rest of the dress fits you great and you have a wonderful figure, but it’s just a little much for the occasion. A larger size *might* work with some tailoring, but I’m not sure if it’ll give you more coverage or just get larger. The great thing about J.Crew is if you have the capital and order enough, shipping will be free and you can try it all on at home. Then take it back to the store to return and you won’t pay shipping fees there either.
Petite sizes ARE smaller in general–particualrly in the bustline, I’ve noticed.

Thanks for the comments girls! I got the navy dress for a graduation gift, so I mean to wear it when it’s something of a “me day” (birthday…dating anniversary…engagement). I just am a little self-conscious because it does show a lot of boob and I wasn’t sure if it’d be appropriate for someone’s wedding.
