Has anyone had a Jack and Jill bridal shower? How did it go?
We’re having a southern style bbq at our barn wedding (chicken, pulled pork, ribs). We are considering having a cookout (hamburgers/hotdogs) at our house for our bridal shower. We want to have the guys and girls there and a bunch of outdoor games, along with a bonfire. Do you think that people would enjoy this? Do you think having a cookout will be too much like our bbq wedding?

@lessons: Is a Jack and Jill bridal shower basically with all friends, both male and female? If so, I think it’s a great idea! I’ve never thought of having a mixed shower and it would be a great way to incorporate all friends and family, along with the groomsmen and bridal party. Love it, tell me how it goes! :o)

@piperhallie: I was assuming “Jack and Jill” just means that the guys and girls both come to the shower. I thought it would be a great way to remove some of the attention from myself (I don’t like to be the center of attention) and share it with the Fiance, plus I thought it would create a more casual feel. I’ll be sure to recap it if we go that route!

I was a Maid/Matron of Honor a few years ago and I threw a co-ed shower. We went bowling first, then back to my house for a backyard cookout. It was vey well recieved. She returned the favor for me as my Maid/Matron of Honor a couple weeks ago with an indoor co-ed shower (no way were we going to be outside in Feb. in WI!). We had a pizza party game night. Fun and laid back – very much appreciated with the all the craaziness.
