My (I am about to say it!!) FIANCE and I have been together for just over 7 years. On Sunday he proposed!!  It was a very casual proposal in our house on our stairs :) I am happy with that~ I have no need for a big show! By the way, over the last few weeks I have been reading proposal stories on here about once a day, I was geting soo antsy!! So happy I am now engaged :)

The Proposal: We were spending a lazy day at home watching the Packers game (:( they lost). My boyfriend had brought home lunch for us and wihle setting the food down on the kicthen table, he also set down a small ring box. I stared at the ring box while we ate, but never mentioned anything. A few hours later, I walk by the ring box still sitting on the kitchen table and pick it up and shake it a little bit (He was really into the packers game so I knew he wouldn't be paying attention to me!). It felt like there was a leather ring box inside... so I set it back down and walk away. 40 minutes later I walk by it again and this time I open it! And I am a little confused by what I see.... its a leather thing that looks like it held something small, like a tool or a custom made ring ~But definitly not a ring box like I had imagined. I never opened the leather thing (sorry, its just easier to say leather thing than try to describe what it looked like!lol) so I had no confirmation of what it held. I closed up the box and set it back on the kitchen table.

     My boyfriend gets up to use the bathroom and I ask him whats in the box on the kitchen table. He played stupid! lol When I pointed directly at it, he said "Ohhh, thats my loop!" (the small magnification tool you look at diamonds with). I made him take it out and prove to me that it was infact the loop!

    From this point on, I get kind of sad and start moping around. I thought it could have really been the ring and maybe my boyfriend had a hidden camera in the kitchen trying to see if I would snoop or not! My boyfriend keeps asking whats wrong, and I tell him that he knows whats wrong. **FYI We just had my birthday, our 7th anniversary, christmas and new years! All which were about 6 months after we started ring shopping! He knew I was very hopeful on all of those occasions that he would propose, and that each time I get a little sad when it doesn't happen** 

     At this point he starts ranting and raving about this craving he has for grapes and nutter butter bars! (Out of nowhere! lol). He kept going on and on about it, but he couldn't leave because the end of the packers game was still playing! I offered to go to Kroger for him and see what I could find. ~ Came back from Kroger and they didn't have green grapes or nutter butter bars! I came back with some knock off NB bars by keebler and some sherbet. He told me he is sad, but he will live and that he appreciates me going.

     He walks out of the kitchen and goes to sit on the stairs that go up to our upper level of the house. He tells me to come over and he will give me a big hug to make me feel better. Whle we hug he tells me 2-3x that he loves me and wants to be with me forever, I kept replying "I know" in a sad puppy dog kind of way. I was actually pretty teary-eyed because of the fact that he was consoling me, not because I thought I was going to be proposed to. So then he says "So you know I want to be with you forever, so I want to give you a gift" (yes he called it a gift haha). At this point I break the hug and step back and say "nuh-uh!" and he grabs that beautiful royal blue Tacori box from his PJ pants pocket and opens it up. He says he then say "Will you marry me?" but I have no reccolection of that! I just kept saying No way! Is this for real? Are you only doing this because I a upset!? hahah ( I feel soo stupid for moping around now! ) He assured me he was going to wait until we could take a trip, but earlier in the day when I told him my weekends are pretty full for the next few weeks so we won't be able to go anywhere- he decided he wanted to propose tonight.

    So then we put the ring on, and its GORGEOUS - Holy crap its more beautiful than I ever imagined! I mean, the diamond is just incredibly clear and even in the worst lighting just sparkles like crazy! Unfortunatly, my camera doesn't catch it very well, but I assure you I AM MORE THAN HAPPY!

• girlfriend thinks boyfriend is playing a joke on her to propose

• when girlfriend realizes that he isn't planning on proposing, she gets sad

• boyfriend realizes this randomly convinces girlfriend to go to kroger so he can go grab the ring

• boyfriend proposes on stairs and girlfriend says YES!

• all of boyfrend and girlfriend's friends say FINALLY! Its about time!!
