Whilst eating a slice of freshly baked apple cake (hot out of the oven, how could I resist) I realised that I have 31 days until the big day!!!!!!!!!!!

    AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

I am not overweight, but I am unfit and need to tone. I am just lazy lazy lazy.

I just freaked out at how little time I have left to make a difference- I want to feel comfortable on the day and not hate my wedding photos because I was lazy.

Anyone who wants to join in, support,  write your daily achievements would be amazing. I am going to write in everyday with what exercise I have done, this way I know people will be monitoring me...and I can't get away with being a couch potato anymore~!!!

I am overweight and unfit! I started running recently - so I will totally join in!

I want to be able to run 4 miles consecutively by January ... I'm up to 2 miles. I don't care how long it takes me right now, I just want to be able to do it!!

AND I want to lose 6 pounds by January. Anymore is unrealistic - can we say Christmas cookies?

Ok- Daily check in....I power walked 45 minutes today and I did "fat burn" workout which was for 21 minutes. I then did extra sit ups and floor exercises for another 10 minutes. My arms are killing me from yesterday! I can't say I dieted because I had another piece of that apple cake, but it's a start.=)

That's awesome. I started the Couch 2 5k this morning!! SO - I ran for a 1/2 hour with intervals. That's about all I cando oday.

Applecake sounds so delicious - I have a TOTE (like, seriously large tote) full of candy in my office right now ... and it's calling my name. I'm thinking my diet may just suffer a little today! I had oatmeal for breakfast, though!

Yesterday- there was no working out - I just went home. Aunt Flo came for a visit and I was not into the gym!

Also - my wedding is May 14, 2011. Forever far off but I want to be in shape waayyyy before then!

I used to run, too, but I have no cartilage in my knees so I stopped. It really is the best workout. I'm hoping taking it slow will really help me get back on the running track ...

Also - have you checked out Sparkpeople? It's an awesome sight for recording calories you've taken in, burned, etc. I just signed up yesterday and I'm loving it!

Are we twin brides? My wedding is on JAN 2, 2010, 29 days left. I've been going to the gym for the last 6 months and reached my target weight. By doing so, I was able to enjoy food here and there especially the last holiday but will be in serious business starting today till my wedding day which means I'll be heading to the gym 3-4x a week.

    Enjoy working out ladies!!!!

@alishaneva, Thank-you so much for the 'spark people' link, I have just signed up it's great! What is couch 2 5k? You have time on your side your goal is def attainable!!

Hello cgenove! Yep we are really on the home stretch...It's fantastic you have reached your goal weight! I am really just wanting to tone up my arms especially and feel really fit and healthy for the big day, let me know how you're going ...we can keep each other motivated! goodluck at the gym!

@swissbride - I do indeed have time on my side. I'd like to just tone up closer to the wedding, though. Overall, I want to lose 54 pounds. not a light undertaking,t hat's for sure.

Couch 2 5k is a running program I actually heard about via weddingbee. It uses intervals and such to prepare you to run a 5k ... it starts off very easy. I just started this week. I'm sore, yes, but you only run as fast as you can take it ... I find it's easy to finish 2 miles right away ... so only a mile left to go to reach that goal! I'd love to run a 5k sometime in the future!

Glad you like sparkpeople!! It makes me happy, too!

@cgenove - gooood luck! I'll be crossing my fingers for you! I admire both you and swiss bride for having weddings so soon after the holidays! They're my downfall!

okey dokey..daily check in...well I really wasn't motivated to exercise today after cleaning the entire apartment- BUT I am proud of myself, I pushed myself to do 20 minute workout on exercise tv "freshman 15" and then I did another 20 minute workout 'ab burn' or something along those lines....40 minutes is not bad for someone who really couldn't be bothered!! How did everyone else go?

Swiss bride, I would love to check-in daily too!! :) I had another post going for workout check-ins, but it is getting quite long!

My wedding is 5 months away and I would like to lose about 10-15 lbs and tone up majorly! I have already lost 4 pounds and have been sticking to my workouts. My only problem is eating healthy (and smaller portions) which I am working on!!!

hello new-bees! Ashely jane I am in your boat and need to tone these arms....ergh I hate push ups....I found a really good exercise on exercise-tv.com it's called 'real housewives arms' stupid I know, bt it's like a 20 minute upper body workout and it almost killed me. Surely that will deliver some quick results. Chocolate fondue!! yum!!

futuredrbraun sounds like you are on track....any motivation tips?

tucklover- not long to go for you either how exciting! I'm on the 9th of Jan.

Actually today I didn't do ANY excercise I completely lacked motivation after completing all the Christmas shopping in one hit...and the day just passed so quickly.....I am not proud, but it just means that I have to work extra hard tomorrow. Tomorrow is another day, night night hive.

Booooo I did REALLY bad today!!! I only had one big meal, but that big meal was Olive Garden (bread sticks, soup, alfredo!!) and NO working out! I'm mad at myself, but I'm going to do better tomorrow. I haven't worked out or had very healthy meals for the past 2 days so I'm going to do much better tomorrow so that I don't slip back into bad habits. Please wish me luck!!!!!!

No post yesterday guys....I had a major migrane and was totally not up for anything!

Today I got back on the bandwagon though and did 20 minute upper body workout and then a 20 minute lower body wrokout...then my own floor exercises for another 10 minutes. I haven't eaten anything bad today either!

Dont worry futuredrbraun everyone slips up (although yours didn't sound too bad....) just make sure you get back on track the next day- GOODLUCK!

I think tomorrow I will attempt to go for a run......eek

I'll join!  I have 4 months but I would like to lose 5-10 lbs.  I have been off my diet for the past few weeks (since turkey day) but am hopping back on the bandwagon.  Plus I have been working out with weights, and I have a Jillian Michaels dvd that literally made me unable to move for two days, granted I didi it with 10 lb weights the first time maybe not so smart!  But I love th idea of posting here so we have someone to account to....count me in!

Yep it is the 30 day shred!  I literally couldnt move....but I was proud lol.  Its a  killer workout!  So yesterday I did 15 minutes upper body weights and 15 minutes lower body strength training.  I was going to do cardio when I got home but I ran up and down the escalator 6 times at work (like regular steps...they are way too slow for me to actually RIDE the darn things!) and ran around so much at work that I decided that was enough for yesterday...plus RUNNING to my vehicle 4 or 5 times yesterday helped lol.  Its FREEZING here!  I also started back on my "only good carb i.e. veggies and fruits" diet and so far I am sticking to that.....its hard being CHRISTMAS COOKIE SEASON!  And I bake all of them for my family....soooo tempting.  How is everyone else doing?

oooh I'm proud of myself I just did an exercise vid 'bikini body' and then a lower body workout one after the other so total 45 minutes of hard work!! Maybe it's just me but I'm starting to feel the difference?!* my ass seems firmer! (could be psychological) My arms I still need to work on more but I think they are toning as well.....not long till the big day but I still think I can reach my goal. We can do it girls!!

Hey girls! I'm in January too, and just found this thread! :) So, I'm pretty fit, but with the end of the semester and Christmas coming, I'm afraid I won't be as disciplined as I should be and since I'll be spending 2 weeks on the beach... I'd like to join!!!

So I haven't done anything yet today, but I'm leaving for a spinning class in 15 minutes... Yeah!

Ok I'm joining in this charade. Wedding is in 45 days and I'm healthy, can walk extensively (NOT A RUNNER WHATSOEVER) but I can't afford to bulk up over the holidays. EEK. I'm going to try and bust out a long walk today.

Jan 17th here - 32 days to go!  I've hired a trainer who has gotten me into BOXING 2 days per week - with gloves and all!  Its an incredible workout for upper body, abs, and tush.  I've also been doing cardio ~45 mins, 5 days a week.  And watching what I eat.  I've NEVER been able to lose any weight before, but my dress keeps me motivated!  I've lost ~10 pounds so far.  I don't care whether I lose any more, but I want to maintain the shape I'm in and any extra lost poundage would be gravy.

Who thought getting married right after 2 major holidays was a great idea?  Surely never came to my mind in terms of getting in shape... I was just enjoying the venue discount!

We can do it! For Thanksgiving I had mostly veggies, turkey with no gravy and a little stuffing, and the tiniest slice of pumpkin pie.  I hope to repeat that for Christmas!  I'm just afraid the new years hors d'ouvres will be my downfall...

    Okay, I'm in!

A little about my situation, I just finished school in the spring and started work on October 1. I work between 50 and 70 hours a week, and I have gained somewhere between 10 and 15 pounds before I started. All through school I rarely exercised, but I walked and was more active generally. I had always been someone who could do little, eat sensibly but still pig out when I wanted, and stay relatively thin.

Now, I have the extra weight, in such a short time, and I am still spinning from the change in lifestyle (work!), and I have a boyish figure to begin with and the weight is largely on my stomach! Another five pounds, and I won't fit my pants, and it will look like a pregnancy pooch!

So, here I am! I did not exercise today. I woke up too late. When I go home I will walk the dog for a half hour. Tomorrow I will write in to verify. Hopefully now that my intention is down and out for the world, it will happen. Cheers ladies!

    Hi and welcome Monitajb!

Don't worry, I'm sure you can loose it as quickly as you put it on-

I worked in London last year for 6 months during winter and I put on 13 pounds!! As soon as I started moving more and stopped eating the office biscuits at 'tea time' I was back to normal.

I find that I have very little time as well I'm not a morning person (morning exercise= a very grumpy me) So I do like 30-50 minutes of exercise when I get home, normally an exercise DVD or two and then some other floor exercises...even though I am tired when I come home I find that I actually feel more energetic afterwards- adrenalin is an amazing thing!

I'm certain with 30 mins of some form of exercise daily and you will be back to your old self in no time!!!

    keep us updated!!

Okay I'm in!  My wedding isn't until May 2011 but I want to be absolutely smoking for that day.  I would like to zip up a size 10 or 12 dress on that day since much smaller just isn't going to happen due to my hips and my boobs.  Even when I was skinny I was still a 10/12 and that is fine by me. So, I started taking this medicine, and at first it was just going up maybe a pant size a year (when I didn't realize it was the medicine doing this)  but after awhile that kind of adds up!  Anyways, I'm working with my doctor to back down on the meds but I can't blame it just on that-I am one lazy beotch.  I want to lose at LEAST 50 lbs.  Anything more would be awesome!  I did weight watchers for a little bit in high school and I lost weight on it so I might go back to that.  I just have to wait until I find a job here in the UK (just moved) so I can afford to spend money on that, and a gym membership.  I am not a runner.  I hate it and I have asthma so it just is not an enjoyable experience.  I do however love walking and I could spend forever on a treadmill and elliptical machine.  I just don't lol. What type of exercise is everyone doing and how are you keeping motivated?  I think I might take bridal magazines to the gym or something.  We can do this!!!

@h4baine: I also hated running and totally understand how it's a pain with asthma. I also have it. I started walking with jogging intervals: 45 minutes workout, 1min walk, 30 secs jog... I was slowly able to do more and now I can jog at a slow pace for the whole 45 minutes, and actually enjoy it! It took me a good 4-5 months, 3 times a week to get there...

As for my exercising this week... Nothing since Wednesday for me! :( And I also had a party last night, stuffed my face. I do not feel too bad about it though, because I am usually very good with food, so it just needs not to become a habit.

I will go Christmas shopping today, then to the tanning salon for the first time in my life but I need to get a tan before going to punta cana; then to the gym for treadmill and weight action!

    See you later!

I just did my third day of 30 day shred...I really like it, it's hard but I push through everytime- the way she structures the work out makes you really motivated. I think I might be ready for level 2 tomorrow, or maybe I'm moving too fast?
