Hi to all the mommy's to be due in January. Our little one is due Jan 17th!
I know there's a post for the baby updates, but this allows us to see what's going on with each of us as we pass each milestone :-) Feel free to share pics, thoughts, questions and whatever else comes to your mind!
Heya!
I'd love to join in :) I'm due Jan 21st with our first. We just had our NT ultrasound the other day! Everything looks good so far, although we won't know our exact genetic screening risk until after I give the second blood sample (around 15-16 weeks).
We have our anatomay scan booked for Sept 6th - definitely looking forward to that as we really want to find out the sex of the baby.
Thanks for starting this thread BabyBoecksMom! How have you been feeling so far?
Glad to hear your scan went well! We just got the results back yesterday and they said everything came back normal, so we're pretty excited right now.
I've actually been extremely lucky so far - I haven't had any symptoms really, except a little bit of fatigue. No baby bump yet :-( just some extra squish around the stomach - haha. Still exercising about the same as before and that really helps keep my energy levels up, and the uncomfortable end-of-day bloat down.
I'm really excited to find out what we're having - really hoping it's a boy since I'm not much of a girly girl, but everyone else seems to think it's a girl... the wait is killing me! Are you hoping for one or the other?
@BabyBoecksMom: I'm fine with either a boy or a girl, but I know my husband would love to have a little boy. He'll love a little girl too of course, but if he could choose, he'd go with a little boy. I have to keep reminding him that we don't really have a say in the matter though - haha. When I told him we get to find out in September - he said to me "but that's so far away still!!!" So I think he might be even more impatient than I am :)
I am still dealing with some nausea (taking diclectin for it) - really hoping that abates very soon! I haven't been excercising as much as I should. Normally we at least go on a big walk every day with our dog, but he recently had knee ligament surgery, so we haven't been getting out as much.
No bump here yet either. However, I'm about 20lbs heavier than I'd like to be (from before the pregnancy) and I've been finding it harder to suck in my gut lately - so maybe the uterus is starting to push the gut out a bit more - hah! Haven't worn any mat clothes yet, but I did buy a few last weekend, because all my summer clothes are tight. Of course, right after I did that - the weather went down the tubes. Dang vancouver and it's non-existant summer right now!
@echo: HA! I think we can trade weather - it's so hot and humid down here in Houston, TX that I can barely get to running in the mornings without overheating in 5 minutes. I would love a cold weather break. But what's driving me is the same thing as you - the dogs. I know mine need to get out since they're big dogs. Sorry to hear about yours - hope he heals quickly!
So cute about your husband wanting to know what you're having :-) Mine just says "I know I shot out a boy"... nice, huh?
Has your nausea started to get any better now that we're almost in the 2nd trimester?
I would LOVE to trade weather with you!! Wouldn't it be great if you could bottle up a bit and post it through the mail
I tried to cut back on the diclectin I'm taking for the nausea to see if I perhaps it was easing up, but no such luck. Back to taking 4 pills a day. It's usually worse in the afternoons for me, so I call it my Mid-day Malaise - heh. Still keeping my fingers crossed that it will get better in the next couple of weeks.
It's been a bit easier to deal with this week, simply because I've started telling people at work about the pregnancy, so I don't have to hide it when I'm feeling like crap! haha
Have you guys started talking names yet? That's been one of the more amusing topics of conversation between my husband and I. We often have a hard time agreeing on a name, so instead we've started to compete for who can come up with the weirdest or worst name!
@echo: I hope the nausea eases up for you soon :-(
We have only talked a couple of names and we have a girl name picked out and a possible boy name, although my husband still hasn't settled on "the one". Our names so far will be Caroline for a girl and Chase for a boy. But just for fun we thought naming the child Brock Boeck (pronounced Bach) would just be mean - haha. What are some of the outrageous names you came up with?
Yay, a January board, I've been wondering if there was anyone else out here! Ours is due January 13th.
I'm still waiting for first trimester symptoms to go away, I'm sick most mornings and of course have no energy what-so-ever. I've been spending a lot of time on the couch and in bed reading. I have to give mad props to anyone who can exercise right now (@BabyBoecksMom)! I am lucky, it could certainly be worse, and my appetite has started coming back lately, and I am still fairly functional at work. I've lost about 10 lbs due to morning sickness, but have some extra padding to spare ;)
I've got a small bump now, and can't suck in my belly comfortably anymore. We have a 3D/4D ultrasound next Saturday since I can't wait 10 weeks in between our doctor's ultrasounds, so we may know boy or girl as early as next weekend! I'm so excited for this one!
I just hit up Macy's sale this morning for some longer tank tops since we are in the middle of our usual hellish summer here in AZ.
@lemondrop: Oh how fun!! You'll have to post pictures of your 3d/4d ultrasound
. Wow - 10 lbs lost! Sounds like you and echo have been having a rough time. Hang in there!!
I did a little bit of shopping today, too! I went in for some maternity work pants, and came out with some maternity convertible pants... I failed! HA! But I've been LOVING my BeBands from Target. They help me to keep my tummy in and my pants on if I need to unbutton them.

Here's the most recent picture of our little one - this is from about 12 weeks :-)
Awwww....hello there little baby boeck!! Such a cute picture...and so photogenic already :)
@lemondrop: yay another January 2012 mom! I'm so with you on waiting for the morning sickness to go away (although in my case it's more like midday malaise - heh). I am officially in the 2nd trimester as of today (well it depends on if you go by 40 weeks/3 or by fetal development - but we're over 13 weeks now so we're there!) and I am HOPING that with it comes relief from the nasuea and fatigue.
I managed to clean out my entire closet this weekend, and went through all the maternity clothes that I inherited from a friend, and did the laundry! That's more housework in one day, than I've done over the past month or so! I have no idea how mom's have more than one child. I can't imagine having to look after a little one while feeling like this.
And although I don't really NEED to wear them, I broke out my new maternity capris to wear to work today. Can I just say, MOST COMFORTABLE PANTS EVER!! haha. I think it's going to be hard to go back to regular clothes after the babe arrives.
@echo: Wow!! That's a ton of stuff to do in one day - how long did that take you?!? But that's great you have clothes you can wear from your friends. I wish I had that. Instead all of my friends threw out their clothes as soon as they didn't fit them anymore - ha! But I totally agree w/ you on the comfort of the maternity pants - I didn't want to take them off!
@BabyBoecksMom Very cute pic, amazing how they look more and more like babies as the weeks go by. Friends were telling me that ours looked like an alien at 10 weeks, but I thought a very cute alien- guess I'm biased ;) I broke down and got the belly band from Target this weekend at your recommendation, it is pretty comfortable! I have to unbutton my pants to drive my car comfortably now (I teach at a vet tech school so I usually wear khaki's but I may be switching to scrubs full time pretty soon), so now I don't have to rush to zip and button as I stand up out of the car, lol.
@echo I feel for you with the sick thing, I have some days where it doesn't go away, and other days I feel fairly normal except for sick first thing in the morning. Today was a bad day. My husband and I get up at the same time to go to work, and I swear each day just as he walks into the kitchen, I run for the bathroom and start throwing up. Poor guy to have to listen to that during breakfast! I definitely question having a second kid at this point, I'm sure I'll change my mind after the big reward comes, but I wasn't expecting to feel this rotten- I really, really want to enjoy being pregnant.
I accomplished more around the house yesterday than in the past couple of months too! We had a huge dust storm a few weeks ago, finally washed off the yards and vaccumed the house for the first time in forever. We also test drove a few cars this weekend since my ancient car isn't reliable or safe enough for a little one.
Tomorrow is my 14 week appointment (been going in once a month) I don't really expect too much at this appointment, I think we have the big scan and bloodwork at 18-20 weeks. I can't wait for Saturday to get the 3D-4D ultrasound- definitely a splurge, but well worth it I hope!
Hey there :) Can I join?? We are due January 15th :) This is my 3rd pregnancy (Hubby's first). This one is completely different than my first two. My first 2 were super easy and I felt great. This one, not so much. Terrible nausea all day long for the first trimester. It still rears its ugly head at least twice a day but not as bad. Weird cravings though. Bologna sandwiches with mayo and mustard and beans and hot dogs and cheese mixed together. Yuck! Been drinking a crap ton of water though to try and avoid a lot of bloating. Some days it's easier to drink it but others its a struggle. The heat here in the midwest has taken it's toll on me too. Today it was 98 with a heat index of 115 with 85% humidity. Gross.
We had a couple ultrasound of the gummi bear now. It's amazing how much they change in a matter of weeks. We get to find out what we are having on August 19th. We are hoping for a boy :) Our last scan, the tech was sure she saw a turtle down there.
I have been looking at ideas for the nursery and I am so jealous that they didn't have all the cool stuff back when my girls were born and that wasn't that long ago.
@lemondrop: When you go for your ultrasound, make sure that they take a good profile shot. I have read mixed reviews on whether they can tell this early. I am hoping they can, because we had an ultrasound last week at 13 weeks and the tech thought it was a boy. The reason for the good profile shot is if they get the pic of down by baby's butt they can usually see something sticking either straight down parallel to the spine or straight up like a winkie.
I am obsessed with In-Gender.com. They have a few posters on there who are ultrasound techs and some people will post pictures and they peek at them and give their opinion. :)
Oh also, something cute. During our last ultrasound while the tech scanned around the baby bits area, after she said it looked like a boy, the baby grabbed its junk. Nothing like a boy to start scratching in public already. Baby was also spread eagle and was not shy about showing off what we were looking for. So hopefully it doesn't fall off before our next scan.
@mrskisstobe: LOL too funny about your last scan!!
We're really hoping for a boy as well, but according to all the wives tales and coworkers, this is going to be a girl. (Is it bad if I'm a little bummed?) I have no idea what to do with one! I'm definitely more on the tomboy side than a girly-girl - no Barbies for me growing up. I don't have an appt for our 20 week scan yet, but it should be exciting either way :-)
Can't wait to hear what everyone's having!
@BabyBoecksMom: It's not bad if you are bummed :) We are really really hoping and praying for a boy because I already have 2 girls. It's funny because I am extremely girly and my oldest daughter is such a tomboy. She hates wearing dresses, skirts and anything girly. My youngest is such a girly girl. Wears perfume to school if I let her. It's funny how opposite they are. They are both wanting a little brother too :)
Thanks for the ultrasound tips guys! I'll definitely see what we can get- so excited for this appointment!
The 14 week appointment was fairly uneventful. I stopped losing weight this week, the doctor was happy about that, and was advised to just eat calories for now (but I'm trying to eat good calories regardless- so avacados have been a big hit lately). The doc is thinking that I'm sick every morning due to reflux, so I'm trying a week of Pepcid before bed to see if it helps. If not then we are moving onto something a little stronger. We have our big anatomy scan scheduled for Aug. 16th, and our "cheater scan" this weekend as the doctor called it. He and my husband made so much fun of me over it, but I'm the sick hormonal one, so if I want to see my kid, then that is ok ;)
As always, it was a huge relief to hear the heartbeat (152), and such a rush that there is something in my bloated belly. I can't wait to really start showing and feel this kid move for sure (felt my guts shift really weird last week, but it wasn't feeling like the usual description people give). One of my students stopped me during a class break and told me she could see belly, which made me feel kinda good, since it was coming from a mom of 4 :)
I've been feeling fantastic this week (compared to the trainwreck that was the past 2 months)- now this second trimester thing is making sense. Still sick each morning, but once that is done, I'm starving, not falling asleep at my desk this week, and able to stay awake past 8pm the last few days- hoooray!
PS- I definitely agree with needing to have either a boy or tom-boy, I wouldn't know what to do with a girly-girl! Plus all our family is having boys within a year of ours, so we will probably have the only girl ;)
I got my bump this week! Just a couple of days ago it just showed up. It's not hard or very big yet, but it's definitely sticking out.
What are everyone's plans for the weekend? I'm going to head out shortly to do "walk" the lazy river (backwards) at one of the pools in this area. (They open early for us ladies to get out workout on). Then we're off to celebrate my husband's best friend's birthday... I look forward to seeing them, but being the only sober person at a celebration can get boring quick - wish me luck!!
Good weekend- I felt fantastic and we found out that its a BOY!
I really wanted a boy, but I was 100% sure that it was a girl, and was getting excited about that instead. The ultrasound tech checked the heartbeat, then got right down to business. We saw the "extra appendage", she asked if we knew what that meant, and it just didn't sink in (and still hasn't). All of our friends and family are having boys right now, so he will have plenty of friends!
It was also really nice to hear off the record that things looked good (since this was a boutique place), and to see him bouncing around happily. Now I'm getting used to saying "Him" vs "It", it is so cool to see this guy start to get an identity. Now we are looking at name choices (we have post-its all over our wall with name ideas). I also found a really good sale at Target in the baby aisles and at the back of their baby clothes- stuff for $2!! I'm trying not to go crazy since that is what people seem to buy you, but its fun to buy a few boy things for now.
I'm also posting another pic in the pregnancy updates, if you want to see another 15 week photo for comparison :) Hope everyone is feeling good!

I'm due Jan 2nd!
We have a sono this Thursday. I'm not sure if it's too early for us to find out the gender?
We decided not to do the extra screening or the NT sono.. so I'm not sure if they will be able to tell with the in office 3D/4D.
Has anyone been able to feel baby kick from the outside. Mr. R tries all the time, but no luck yet.
@lemondrop: Awwwwww!! Well, congrats on your little man - great picture. He looks so peaceful in there. :-)
@mrsrowe: Welcome, and congrats! I have only felt flutters on the inside, but they are so light that no one can else can feel them yet.
I have an appt next Friday, but I don't know if we'll be doing a scan or if it's just a "pee in the cup" visit. I'm hoping it's a scan, but if not, my sister is an ultrasound tech and she can scan me again to see if we know what we're having.
How are the other January mommies-to-be doing this week?
Hi Everyone!
I'm hoping this is for Jan 2012, not 2011... if so, we're due Jan 13, 2012! Right now I just feel fat, lol. We had an appt yesterday to hear the heartbeat. We go back Aug 23 to find out the gender! I'm excited b/c this is the week before my mom comes to visit and before DH leaves for England... so it's perfect timing. My mom and I can do all the fun nursery decorating things while DH is gone!
I've been strugging with really bad nausea/vomiting. Lost 20 lbs now. I was a size 16 to begin with and 5'10, so no worries there. The doctor says that going OFF of the Zofran causes nausea for 1-2 weeks... great... so I'm working on tapering back now and feeling like crap.
I'm excited to share this journey with other bees!
Oh and here's our bean at week 10... we'll be 16 weeks this Friday. Can't feel any movement yet, but I keep thinking I feel 'something' lol. I'm sure it's all in my head!

Yay for more Jan 2012 babies!!
@BabyBoecksMom: I just noticed that my tummy has become harder rather than really squishy this week too! So I think the bump is finally making a bit of an appearance!
No movement - but it's still pretty early considering this is my first and I have no idea what to expect. I do think my nausea is slowly going away as I've been starting to feel better even in the evenings - woohoo! I'm going to start tapering off the diclectin and hopefully the nausea will stay away.
And we're going to San Francisco this weekend (it's a long weekend in Canada) and I can not wait!! SHOPPING HERE I COME!! Oh and some sightseeing too of course.
And lemondrop - congrats on the boy!! So exciting :)
Hey ladies - I'm just checking in to see how everyone's feeling this week, and to see if there are any updates.
I finally have my 20 week appt on August 29th, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this little one will cooperate and let us *finally* find out what we're having. If not, my sister will do another scan on me that following weekend :-)
I just wanted to share my news - my sister did an ultrasound for me this weekend, and we found out we're having a girl!! Very excited :-D
What's new with the other January moms-to-be?
@BabyBoecksMom: Awww congrats on your little girl :) We are so excited to find out - but we have to wait until Sept 6th! How awesome is it that you have a sister that was able to do that for you!!
Not much new over here - went to San Francisco which was great! And I tried weaning off the diclectin after we got back but that was a no go. Ah well - I'll try again in a couple weeks.
I am anxiously awaiting our genetic screening results which should be in any day now! In the meantime, I've been doing a lot of stroller research lately. So much so that I've become a bit of a stroller stalker. All the moms in my neighbourhood probably think I'm some weirdo staring at their baby, when really I'm just trying to figure out which stroller they have - haha.
Aaaaiiii, soo excited about this thread!! I'm in!
17weeks pregnant with our first, due January 24th
just had my ultrasound done today and found out its a GIRLL!!!!!! i wanted a girl SOOO badly that i honestly tought it was going to end up being a boy. but nooo, its a girl, and i couldnt be anyyy happier!!
here is our Princess

and here's the proof that shes really a girl ;D tho that honestly looks like boy parts to me lmao

I started feeling her movements 2 weeks ago, and its the best feeling! Thank God my horrible nausea is much much better and im just now starting to gain a few pounds. unfortunately, the migranes have kicked in, and its been hard to get rid of these unbearable headaches!! arrghh. i keep trying to convice myself that this is all for a good causee, and when i saw this perfect baby today during the ultrasound it assured me that it will be soo worth it!!
congrats to all of you on ur pregnancies, and i loove it that we will get to share this experience! ;)
@mSmartins10 & @BabyBoecksMom Congrats on your lil girls!!! It really makes it feel so real now that they are getting identities :)
We are buying a new car this week, so we've been working out all of the details and getting my old car ready to be sold. It helps that I've been feeling better, so I'm trying to catch up on everything I ignored during the 8 weeks of misery. Now I'm only having morning sickness on Monday mornings- guess he hates Mondays too!!
We had our 18 week anatomy scan today- so much fun to see the boy bouncing around! I've been able to feel him lately, especially when I drive and after I eat. I've got a noticable belly now, it really hit me when I could still feel it when I lay down. My SIL sent us a huge box of infant clothes that my twin nephews have grown out of (they'll be a year at Thanksgiving), so we are totally set for clothes! My MIL and SIL are throwing a shower in early Nov., so they have been reminding me about registering- now that our anatomy scan is all good, I'll be ready. I'm starting to map out how we are going to make our office share space with a nursery, I had a minor freak out that I'm 2 weeks from being halfway done- it is flying by!

Lemondrop- I just had that moment yesterday, I woke up in the morning
And the first thing I always do is feel my belly, and even though I
Was laying down, I could still feel the bump! I was soo excited, its
Like it popped out overnight! :) and I also got clothes from a friend
Who had twin girls :) isn't that awesomee?? :D hopefully ill be all set
With newborn clothes. Oo and my babygirl also lovess to kick after
I eat and when I'm driving! Hah. Hubby actually felt her kick today for
The first time after dinner. Seems like we are going through similar
Experiences. :) I havent started my baby shower planning tho :/ but I'm
Thinking mid Nov, I don't know what to do with a winter shower :/ I wish
I could do it outdoors and not have to worry about renting a hall :/
Woohooo - just got the call from our midwife and we were given the "all clear" on our genetic screening results!! Being the genetic counsellor that I am, it was quite the relief to get that call. Soooooooo happy!
And I haven't taken any diclecting since yesterday morning - so far so good! *knocks on wood*
Congrats to mSmartins10 on your little girl and lemondrop on your little boy - how exciting!! I am so jealous that you all get to know so early. We still have a couple more weeks yet.
And I'm also jealous of all the movement you gals are feeling. I haven't really felt anything definitive yet, though I think I may have felt a few nudges here and there, but it could have just been gas too. Can't wait for the stronger kicks!!
Its so cool to have people to share this with going through similar experiences!
I literally could not wait for 2 months in between ultrasounds- so we went to the local Stork Vision and "cheated"- but now I feel so spoiled getting the 3D and the video after our last doctor's ultrasound! Even though it is expensive, I'll definitely be going back again later, it was the best $150 I EVER spent! Now that I'm feeling him on a daily basis I can be a little more patient waiting for the next one.
I have felt a few flutters, but mostly I feel rolling and shifting feelings, apparently I have an anterior placenta, so it muffles things.
I haven't heard it described this way before (and as awful as it sounds) it feels more like a snake moving around in my belly. After we saw the last Harry Potter we decided that he is going to by a Slytherin when he goes to Hogwarts ;) Yes, we are super nerdy!
Awww I'm jealous of you ladies, too! I haven't felt any movement - or if I have, I've passed it off as gas bubbles. I'm 18.5 weeks now, so hopefully I'll feel something soon.
And I'm right there with you on the belly! What I thought was my bump a few weeks ago was just wishful thinking. I'm actually looking pregnant now, and a few of my coworkers have noticed. Feels good to "look" pregnant haha
@echo: congrats on the "all clear"!!!!
Holey Moley Round Ligament Pain Batman!
Yesterday was pretty awful, has anyone been running into issues with this? I woke up to an awful side stitch in my lower right side, hurt whenever I coughed, laughed, twisted, or tried to get up.
I opened up What to Expect, and guess what was right there after the week 20 update- a full description. A little more Dr. Google, and a call to my mom, and yup, that is what is going on, she said, "let me guess, your lower right side?"
I got a body pillow yesterday, and that seems to help quite a bit. I'm still sore, but feeling waay better this morning.
On a much more fun note, we registered at Babies R Us yesterday. I took my SIL's advice, as soon as we got close to overwhelmed we finished up and went home. There is just too much stuff out there!
Hope everyone on the East Coast is staying dry and everyone on the West Coast is staying cool!
Well we had our anatomy scan this morning and we found out we're having a GIRL!!
And everything on the scan was normal and looked great, so of course we're super happy about that!
I think my husband is a bit disappointed at missing out on having a little boy, but I know he'll get over that pretty quickly - and I know he's gonna have a daddy's little girl on his hands :)
And now let the SHOPPING begin!! haha
Still not feeling much movement over here, but I found out today that I have an anterior placenta (on the tummy side of my uterus) which acts as a cushion against a lot of the kicks and movement. She was moving around like crazy in there during the scan. The tech said I'd probably feel more in the next couple of weeks - yay!
How is everyone else doing these days?
@lemondrop: booo to round ligament pain! I've only had it a bit - like when I move to quickly off the couch, or try to roll over to quickly in bed. But it definitely takes the breath away when it does happen! Hopefully it's gotten a bit better for you?
Congrats on the girl and normal scan!!
I have an anterior placenta too- I can feel him squirm and roll inside (feels like a snake moving), but have only felt a couple of big ninja kicks from the outside (my husband actually felt one of them!).
The round ligament pain has definitely improved since I got the body pillow. Now it is just a sore back and heartburn- which at this point I can totally deal with.
How has your morning sickness been, has it gone away yet? I feel so lucky that I haven't thrown up in 18 days!!!
My biggest craving lately is peaches, love them more than usual! Also the belly really has popped (I keep bumping into things), I even had a stranger ask when I'm due finally.
